Should Dad Who Had Tots Duke It Out Lose Custody?

Siblings have their spats, but when push comes to shove most parents step in. This was not the case when one father's 2-year-old tot came to blows with another child his age. The dad, a special operations soldier at Fort Bragg, picked up a camera, egged on the fight, prevented an older child from stepping in, and posted the footage on YouTube. I am not posting the video because it is so hard to stomach. The father only cut the tape and ended the altercation once the boy was bleeding. Do you think this dad deserves to lose custody of his small son?

First of all, the dad should have been thrown in jail YESTERDAY. Secondly, mom2ross, your comment is as vile as that father in the video. There are millions of amazing moms and dads, who proudly serve their country. My wonderful husband, a devoted father to our beautiful baby, is one of them. Think before you type. Just because you are somewhere behind the computer screen, it doesn't mean that you should just blur out any ignorant thoughts you might have.

wow......hmmm...i'm not good at typing what is in my head and getting it to come out right. but i don't think dad should lose custody. everyone fucks up...and because of this being on the news and online everywhere...and plus being in the military...he'll be ripped up one side then down the other.....he'll have child protection services out for a while for weekly or daily check-ups, hopefully have to go to classes.... plus be reprimended by the military i would imagine..not sure about that...all in all....i think there have been worse situations in other cases...and the children have not been taken away.ladies..this is just my opinion...i WILL NOT come back and comment on it....i don't do debates well. :)

Sick. That's it. We need to start handing out parenting licenses. There are so many willing parents who deserve these children more than that 'father'.

This is disgusting. The only thing this man is doing is teaching his kid to be a bully.Mom - I wouldn't put this guy in the same mold as everyone. Just like in all areas there are those who are truly disgusting. The vast majority of the people in the military are caring, compassionate people who do a job that very few people would want to do.

I think what he did was terrible and stupid, but I would think about the rest of their lives before deciding whether or not he should lose custody. Much, much worse happens to kids who get into the system (if this kid, or any other in the same situation had no one else to take them in) - therefore, I would be hesitant to remove the child from a home where 90% the father is not a total dummy (I mean who knows, this may be one of those macho moments and the rest of the time the dad might be the help with his homework, read him a story, and teach him how to ride a 2-wheeler) so I think we should all think about the whole picture before making a decision on something as important as taking a child away from his family and home. Now, dont ge me wwrong, this guy might be an a-hole everywhere else in the parenting areas, but unless I know that, or at least know more, I don't think this incident is enough to lose all custody.

Im not going to watch it but the father should lose custody of the child. This is horrible, IMO is abuse - raising his child in a violent home, he might as well have been the one beating him.this is sick!

This is outrageous. I'm sitting here, nursing my 3 1/2 month old baby, wanting to protect her from strangers. This child should be protected from his own father. Disgusting.

Schnappycat she might have lost custody for money reasons. He might have beat her in court because he was the better provider, not the better parent. It happens all the time to couples who aren't married. He may have been supporting her and then stopped when they broke up and because they weren't married she wasn't protected.But it is a good question. Hopefully she can step up as a parent.
