Every year we hear horrifying stories of children who die after being left in cars by their parents, about half of the youngsters are left unintentionally by relatives who forgot to remove them from the vehicle.
The Cars-N-Kids Car Seat Monitor ($40) is designed to prevent such tragedies. Using a monitor placed under a car seat, the device turns on when a child is placed in his seat. When the car stops for more than four seconds, a lullaby plays to remind parents about the lil one in the back seat. The device also beeps if a creative kid climbs out of their chair while the car is in motion.

I think it could be useful. I don't know if a lullaby is the best option though. They are so quiet and may go unnoticed. Afterall if a child can go unnoticed, so can a quiet tune.
1Considering it would go off at a good number of stoplights, I think the parents would become so immune to hearing it that it would end up being useless.
2So a parent would be responsible enough to buy, install & listen to this device yet would leave their kid in the car? '
3hmm. don't think so.
kmckay-- thats a pretty ignorant and arrogant statement. ever hear the term tragic accident?
4new parents, working too many hours, stressed, exhausted. seems like maybe should be installed on all car seats.
what would you do if you saw a baby in a car? you can call 911, but is that enough? calling from your cell puts you on some super long cycle to a general #.
5good idea but 4 seconds? You'd be hearing that lullaby at every stop sign or traffic light, school bus or RR crossing etc. and then you'd just get so used to hearing it that it won't matter when you need it.
6Four seconds is a bit too short a time I think. Between stoplights and traffic, I think you'd hear it all the time. The best thing would be if the device would sound when a door opened or when the car was turned off.
7Good idea especially for here in AZ when a child could die very quickly in the summer heat. But I agree with everyone else that 4 seconds is kinda short, but on the other hand it has to be reall, if it were 30 seconds, you 'd already be out of the car and on your way. I think a better Idea would be an alarm on your key chain so if you are walking away it would beep or sound.
