Preeclampsia is a term that pregnant women hear often but rarely know what it means until it is something they have to manage. In a perfect world, no mother-to-be would have to worry about the medical issue, but it does affect a small percentage of all pregnancies.

I had preeclampsia with my first baby and was put on bed rest for the last month. Hard to do during a move. The next pregnancy went smoothly.

I had preeclampsia that escalated into HELLP syndrome during labor. Due to a hematoma incurred during delivery coupled with the HELLP symptoms, I was at a super high risk for hemorrhaging. I had to stay in the hospital for 4 days, which is how long it took for my blood work to return to normal and the hematoma to heal. If I have another baby, it's likely I'll get preeclampsia and HELLP again. It's certainly played a decision factor in whether or not I want to have a second child!

4/5 - wasn't sure which ethnic group was more prone to it. I too had high blood pressure that last few weeks of my 1st pregnancy so they tried an emergency induction; however, it didn't take so the doctor put me on bedrest and they did lots of monitoring. I delivered a healthy baby boy 12 days later!

Yea, I'm with you Greggie and Kikidawn, I thought I knew nothing about preeclampsia but I got 5/5.

5/5 Yeah! I had high blood pressure in the last 2 weeks of my pregnancy. It was not fun!

I had never heard the term until about a year ago. My Dr said, "You're going to get it, I'm just not sure when." Then at month 5 I was put on bedrest for being borderline, and at 8 months I had it and out came out little man! Its totally not a fun thing to go through, that's for sure!
