Poetry For Children

"Playing word games with children is a huge thing. The same way you sit down and play with toys — play with words. When you are driving in the car, play rhyme games. You say a word and your kid says a rhyme back to you or you make up poems about how they feel or what happened that day. I think the nice thing about it is it gives children the vocabulary to express their feelings in a more abstract way. Play an end the sentence game like 'Today, I am so happy that I could...?' or 'I'm as hungry as a...?' and let them finish the sentence."
