babysugar Diaries: Song Suggestions, Anyone?

I still have a while to go until I reach the nine month mark, but I am already starting to think about the playlist I want on my iPod for the delivery room. I couldn't have planned it any better when KT Tunstall sang loud and clear, "You can see she's a beautiful girl, she's a beautiful girl" as my daughter was pushed into this world.

Listening to lots of "Itsy Bitsy Spider" and singing the ABCs has left me with a dry well of musical information. As I beef up on my iTunes purchases, I'm hoping some of you mommies can share some tunes you think would be appropriate for my delivery. I'll share your offerings and the poignant "song" that plays when I welcome my next family member.

My one year loves "god only knows" by the beach boys. I've been singing it to him since befor he was born. I remember an episode of ER where one of the characters was in labor and she needed to hear "blackbird" by the beatles but the tape was messed up or something so they had to sing while she pushed.

"Little Star" by Madonna (from ray of Light) I use it as a lullaby - both my daughters like it, my oldest absolutely loved it when she was little!

Belle & Sebastian are a beautiful choice for pretty much anything- Soft indie rock. Some of the songs are a little on the stranger side, but I recommend Another Sunny Day and If She Wants Me.
