Photo Exhibit Teaches 4-Year-Olds About Kids Killed in Iraqi War

Colorado International School recently hosted an art exhibition in their hallway. The display of smiling children intended to remember the Iraqi children who died in war. While the school said the pictures went along with their goal of showing diverse perspectives and promoting peace, one student's father, Michael Thau thought the subject of mass death was too heavy for his four-year-old daughter to handle.

No way. Maybe in a high school or something I might see it as a nice gesture because those kids are old enough to understand death. But 4yo is way, way too young to make them look at something that's so complex. It's hard enough trying to explain when a pet or elderly realtive passes. But to try and explain death in the context of war and about other small children, that's just too much.

I *do* hope those parents are screaming! Also, if you're going to teach any students about casualties of war, you should also teach them about the people raped, tortured and killed by ruling dictators. Wars are not fought to kill civilians, they are fought to preserve life and liberty. Is objectivity no longer a virtue?
