Lots of women have ideas about the kids they will raise, only to give birth and realize some things aren't up to them. A recent news report focused on Peter Leonforte, a bricklayer, and his son Andrew Leonforte, a singer. It's not uncommon for parents and their children to have opposite interests and personalities. While some moms and dads keep an open mind and encourage their kids despite the differences (even of opinion), other parents try to mold their offspring (sometimes subconsciously) into what they want them to be. Which is your style?

I agree---there is give and take. We are touched and changed by everyone around us...child AND parent. Consider this...having a child often changes a person's priorities. One could say a previously selfish adult can become suddenly selfless as a result of becoming a parent...and the irony is...children are by nature self-absorbed/selfish. Parents teach them to consider others. Some would say teens are the epitome of self-absorbed...and becoming an adult clarifies their priorities only to have those changed once becoming parents...or becoming more mature.
