Which Issues Concern You Most For Your Child's Future?

The second I saw the positive sign on my pregnancy test, my worry–free days were over.

From that day on, I have evolved into a worrywart. I make myself sick over the possibility of an earthquake and BPA leaching plastics. As my tot grows older, I know my list will just elongate.

I chose peer pressure because it seems that kids nowadays are starting to experiment with things a lot earlier on and I worry that my daughter might do something foolish because her friends are doing it. Aside from that I am really just worried about these kids behavioral issues, there have been WAY too many stories about kids jumping other kids and all this craziness and it scares the crap outta me.

Health and safety... I am always terrified when I imagine all the horrible accidents that happen to children.

I worry about health and safety issues. I am always horrified when I think of accidents that could happen when I'm not around, or even when I am. I sould not think about those things, but they just pop into my head.

Peer pressure......She's a smart kid who from what I can see is going to do very well in the future.I would hate to see her give into the "peer pressure" thing and ruin her entire life.

safety. there are so many freaks out there. you're in the wrong place at the wrong time and you're a victim. danger will robinson!!

I'm definitely a worrier, it's terrible. Now that I have a child, it's a bit worse. If I see something on television or the on the interenet about childhood cancer, for example I worry about my daughter is going to get it. I make sure to video tape our family often just in case something happens to me, my husband or our daughter. That way we'll have the video footage to look back on. My worries tend to be very serious things. I don't worry about insignificant details like first birthday party themes, or things like that. Now that I really think about it, I think I worry most about those things that I cannot control. Kimpossible - My goal is to raise my children to be just as you described. Emotionally equipped, well rounded individuals. If I can succeed at that, I will feel great about my role as a parent.

My biggest worry for my children is that they won't be happy, well rounded, strong individuals who can face all the issues that the world and other people throw at them. I just want them to be happy and live lives full of joy and fulfillment in whatever they choose to do. The other stuff, health, education, issues etc. are but minor details as long as they are positive and are equipped emotionally to handle anything. I want them to be able to see the big picture and to realize that they are responsible for their own happiness and their behaviors, their lives, no matter how good or how bad everything else is. I'm worried about both my son's education and peer pressure. With so many young children bringing weapons and drugs to school these days (I think one time I heard the child was as young as 9 years old!) I am terrified of what my son will be exposed to once he hits elementary/middle/high school. The world has definitely changed since we were children...and it scares me sometimes. :(

I am not a worrier. I take think day to day. I am concerned about my children's education. I can not afford private school and I am concerned the the public schools are not up to par.
