No childhood is complete without at least a few viewings of Mary Poppins, starring Julie Andrews as a magical nanny who comes to work for a banker's unhappy family, turning around the lives of charges Jane and Michael (and a chimney sweep named Bert, played by Dick Van Dyke). The film won five Oscars in 1965 and was nominated for eight more, including best picture.
