The Obama Girls Get Their Puppy!

There will be paws padding around the White House soon! According to recent reports, Malia and Sasha Obama will be the proud owners of a six-month-old Portuguese Water Dog named Bo. Initially, the first family was going to adopt a rescue animal, but ended up with this pup that was returned to its breeder. The newest resident of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue is supposed to make its official debut this Tuesday.

While there's nothing cuter than the bonds between children and their critters, the Obama girls are mature enough to help raise the animal. Does your family have a pet or are you waiting until your kids are of a certain age?

I hate this idea that pets are for the kids and it's their responsibility to care for them. Pets are family. If a parent adopts an animal, then it's part of the family. I've known too many parents who have let hamsters die because 'it was the kid's responsibility.' I have two cats that I've had before I had my son, and they are the family's responsibility.

Very nice for them but it was even on the news (serious news) here in the Netherlands, ridiculous!! It's a dog.......who cares?

we adopted a puppy 2 weeks before we found out I was pregnant. So my lil one will grow up with a pet which I think is wonderful. It teaches children so much about being considerate of others and responsibility
