Having Trouble Naming Your Unborn Baby?

Some women have monikers selected for their unborn children long before pregnancy is an option. I was of the other camp – clueless when it came time to name my baby. My husband and I picked a girl's name from a book and we never decided on a boy's name. Good thing we had a girl!

I know a Jayden, Aiden and Kaiden... I didn't know that Brayden was popular! Glad I didn't go with that. Grayden still has that "den" sound that I liked. I am sure it is a matter of time that my somewhat unique baby name takes off ;-) I think people gave me a harder time about my first sons name way back when. Funny how the grandparents were so put off by the name "Dylan" 9 years ago. Turned out that it got very popular and he goes to school with like 30 other Dylans. And really, once the baby is born who's going to tell you that precious bundle of joys name sucks ;-)

i read somewhere that "hayden, brayden and jayden" were the most popular new names right now. i think names are so personal and my advice to moms is whatever name you pick don't tell anyone UNTIL it's on the birth certificate. people will say the meanest things and change the way you feel about what you thought were perfectly beautiful names. after the name is official most people respect your choice.

When I used one of my girl names for "inspiration", it popped up with my dog's name as a suggestion. I guess that means it is pretty on target for me :-)

I thought I would test it out to see if it could have helped me. It actually came up with Brayden which before we found the name Grayden was my first choice. So I thought I would enter in the name Grayden and it didn't have it in its database. I think it did a decent job of going with my tastes.

It's an interesting idea, but it feeds back a lot of very unusual spellings and incredibly old-fashioned names. Granted, I love some old fashioned really feminine names (like Genevieve or Gwendolyn) but Ivette, Matilde, and Fleur? Nonononono.
