This is a tip I learnt from another mom but thought I would pass it on because it worked fantastically for me. Don't hang the mobile over the crib (because that's sleeping time not play time...) but hang it over the changing pad which you will be using very frequently anyway. It became a favorite place for my little girl, even had a calming affect on her. She's 15 mths now and still loves to look at the hanging fish which I got from ikea.
