Did You Spoil Your Baby's Callers?

I was lucky enough to shower once a day when my babe made her debut. But when visitors knocked on the door, I just hoped to be out of my pajamas.

In contrast, I have a friend who was coiffed and outfitted with babe in arms when guests greeted her newborn. To see the other treats she offered, read more.

She also had candles lit, a baby book to sign and chocolate bars printed with her baby's stats.

The warm environment she created was welcoming though I never expected to be the one pampered when I went to wish them well.

Heck most of the time I was in my pj's, which usually consist of sweats and a t-shirt so nothing too bad. They were there to see the baby not to have me entertain them and look pretty.

LOL goose! When I had visitors I spent the entire time silently praying my then-17 month old wouldn't try to show off and climb into my lap and pretend to nurse.

Nope -- and I don't feel even slightly bad about it. I'm guessing that this was your friend's first child? My other little ducklings would've been setting the linens aflame with the lit candles, gobbling down chocolate bar chunks and shredding all those precious little labels, plus decorating the pages of the baby book with smudgy chocolate fingerprints, puddles of spilt milk, in addition to very many spirited illustrations and scribbles. But it's cute, what your friend did. Daddy can order the candy bars online soon following birth, to be delivered promptly for all the well-wishers. The baby book can be signed with encouraging notes at baby showers and at the hospital, plus be available to grab with the digital camera at a moment's notice on a bookshelf in the gathering room. But I'm a low-fuss person, so I wouldn't bother with candles (potential danger caused by sleep induced forgetfulness + possible sensitivities/allergies to all the fragrance = more potential damage than benefit rendered, imo).

No. We rarely even get visitors, we go visiting. My house is tiny, visitors don't have anywhere to sit.If I did know someone was coming, I would be showered and dressed.
