LilSugar's Must Haves For January

Jan 2 2013 - 11:22am

Welcome 2013! Just because the holidays are over doesn't mean we don't still have a few things on our wish lists. From a supersleek new stroller and personalized paper dolls to some cool pajamas and a book your kids will want to read for years to come, we're ushering in the New Year with some fun finds for the toy box, bookshelf, and dresser drawers. See what's on our list this month!

Maclaren BMW Buggy

There's something about the combination of the legendary BMW name and the iconic Maclaren [1] stroller that gets us giddy. After much hype, the two brands have come together to create a lightweight umbrella stroller that is as sophisticated as its name implies. The Maclaren BMW Buggy [2] ($385) is part of the stroller designer's Objects of Design Collection and features a BMW logo buckle and rear deflectors — a must have for the car enthusiast who spends more time pushing a stroller than going out for a Sunday drive these days.

1 Second Everyday App

We love the idea of chronicling our children's lives, and there's no time better than the beginning of the year to commit to doing it. The 1 Second Everyday App [3] will help parents chronicle their kids' lives by simply recording one second of their day, every day. Using just your phone, at the end of the year, you'll have six minutes of video that summarizes everything. The app just achieved its funding goal on Kickstarter and should be available for purchase soon!

American Girl 2013 Girl of the Year Saige Copeland

With the New Year comes a new doll from American Girl — Saige Copeland [4] ($110). The 2013 Girl of the Year is a horseback-riding little girl who lives in Albuquerque, NM, and loves painting. Available (along with all of her accessories, which include a posable horse, a hot air balloon, and multiple outfit changes) for just this year, Saige joins the long line of book and doll sets at American Girl.

20 Questions

A book that picks up where the baby book leaves off, the 20 Questions [5] ($30) book is designed for busy parents who really want to chronicle their tots' lives but don't have time to put pen to paper every day. The book asks tots the same 20 questions each year for 16 years (questions like their favorite color, their favorite food, etc.) to create a record of your child's growth over the years. It's a quick and easy way to create a fun memory book!

Personalized Paper Dolls

We love the retro feel of playing with paper dolls, but the whole experience becomes even more fun when the dolls are recognizable. Etsy shop Jordan Grace Owens creates personalized paper dolls [6] ($120 for four) based on photos and clothing/style descriptions that are sent her way. Six weeks later, the fun dolls appear in your mailbox.

Hanna Andersson Star Wars Pajamas

There's a cult-like following that loves Hanna Andersson [7]'s supersoft, well-made pajamas. For years the PJs have featured the Swedish design house's brightly colored patterns, but for the first time ever, it's working with some well-known characters to add some fun to sleepwear. The Hanna Andersson Star Wars [8] collection (starting at $36) includes six different patterns featuring the familiar icons of the Star Wars trilogy in both long-sleeved and short-sleeved sleep sets. May the Force be with your sleeping tot!
