My Brest Friend ($35 - $45) may not be your best friend forever, but we can pretty much guarantee that it will be your best friend for a while. Created by a man, it's a blessing for new mothers.
It is a cushion that has an adjustable strap to snap around your waist and serve as a platform to rest your baby on while you nurse. It also has a pocket to hold bottles, nail clippers, or your remote control. And because all babies spit up every now and then, it comes with a machine washable slipcover. If you can afford the splurge, go for the $45 plush version with the Velcro strap.

the walking around aspect of use sounds pretty convenient. I'd never thought of that. I was going to ask what the diff. was between this and the boppy,but now I see. Hmm, well I already got a boppy pillow from my registry (eeks, I cheated!) so, I guess we're going w/ that one!

I had a c-section 2 mos ago. My son weighed 9lbs 13 ounces and the breastfriend was/is a lifesaver! I don't clip it all the time, and it still stays. It helps support my lower back, and my elbows while breast feeding. My son now weighs 15 pounds and I still use it. I like how firm it is and how high it holds him. Otherwise I'm bent over. Never tried the boppy. However, this I really like because I can actually walk around the house with it strapped on, and carry him with both arms, which only comes in handy if I need to move from sofa to chair or from one room to another in a hurry and only have my two hands to depend on.

This is good for smaller babies. My son was 9 pounds, 3 oz's and very long. We didn't use it for very long. I like the design though.

Fantastic, I was hoping there would be some compare and contrast in the comments about the boppy. I used that with my first son and had registered for another one even though I did see the breastfriend. I had such a hard time nursing 9 years ago and hope that it goes better this time.

My sister preferred the Brest Friend because of the storage. She has twins and liked the ease of tucking stuff into it like the remote. :)

Greggie - You are right about the Boppy being versatile. I actually used both - I was given both as presents. I liked the BrestFriend for the early stages and then the Boppy as she got older. It's hard to choose between the two.

When it comes to these pillows, I prefer the Boppy for ease. The Brest Friend involves clipping it into place, adjusting it, etc. The Boppy you just pop on and you're done. But I can't do either for breatfeeding because they sit on my c-section incision and cause more problems than they're worth. What I generally use the Boppy for is floor time - it's a GREAT support for baby to sit, or to rest on their belly. The Brest Friend doesn't allow for that.
