A baby in the tummy often leads a woman to "nest" in her home. When I was pregnant the first time around, I painted rooms, cleaned out closets and gave away bags of clothes. This time around, I haven't so much as bought newborn diapers or purchased a layette! That's all about to change.
Not anticipating a move, my husband and I stumbled upon a piece of property that screamed "Home Sweet Home." Upon entering the house, I chased my wee one from room to room. Instantly comfortable, she seemed to be telling me, "Here's my room and here's your room." All in love with the house, we have moved forward with contracts and inspections. Now my task of preparing for baby seems quite simple as I start to mentally gear up for a birth and a move. One major perk — I won't have to lift any heavy boxes!
Did you move while you were pregnant?

Yoox
if I thought that we could sell our current house "as is" then I totally would... but now is not the best time for that!
1Wow, that is a lot to take on while pregnant! I can't imagine. I could barely get the nursery ready in time. Good luck!
2I moved while pregnant...and on bed rest!! Not something I would recommend. Baby arrived just 10 days after we moved in. This was not what we had planned but after inspections and other complications the closing date just kept getting moved.
Good luck!
3I moved from a one bedroom apt. to a 2 bedroom apt. Thankfully it was Just a few streets over from the one bed. so it was very easy and my husband did all the lifting.
4Lil', where do you get your photos? We have the exact same boxes in my office in Munich, Germany. (The logo translates to "let the pros do the moving".)
5Sorry, you're obviously BabySugar, not LilSugar.
6I did at 26wks and it wasn't so bad but i don't already have a little one like you do Babysugar. I did most of the packing but i didn't have to lift a thing. It was all worth it now we have room for everyone.
7We moved when I was about 7 1/2 months pregnant. Wasn't the easiest thing I've ever done but we managed. The apartment we were in didn't have room for baby so I was motivated to get settled in the new place and get our daughter's room set up!
8we moved when i was pregnant... but nobody knew it was two months in... we had looked at the house before i knew and found out just before we closed. i couldnt imagine doing it farther along.. i would have forgotten everything!
9We moved when I was 7 months pregnant and I actually did WAY too much lifting. I ended up spotting the next day and that was scary. Next round of pregnancy, I hope we don't move because it is stressful and tiring.
10Yes, twice! The first time I was 7+ months pregnant and we moved from the US to Europe. It was very very stressful. The second time I was only a couple months pregnant and we were just moving house so it wasn't as bad as the first time.
11I'm 31 weeks pregnant, and we're hoping to move in the next few weeks, fingers crossed. The 1 bedroom apt we're living in just doesn't have room, and getting all the closing stuff together is taking FOREVER.
12I moved three weeks after my daughter was born and definitely would have preferred to move while pregnant. Packing boxes and having to leave the lifting to others as I had just delivered was hard.
13I'm 36-37 weeks along and we just moved 4 weeks ago. The move was hard, but the unpacking is worse because I also have a 22 month old very active little boy. My husband has had to take on A LOT and we're still not unpacked!
14Yes, I moved TWICE during my first pregnancy. Once from OK to GA. (During which my 6month hiney rode 1/2way cross-country in a non-AC car with bad shocks and sciattica in 100+ weather.) Then again from ATL, GA to Columbus, GA at 8 months. And WE didn't have movers, so I DID have to lift heavy boxes. Shortly thereafter I wound up on bedrest with a DH who was never home, so I welcomed my baby into a "home" full of boxes.
NEVER AGAIN!!
15No..... we were already living in our house for a couple of years before I ever got pregnant. If I had to it would have been a huge problem because for most of my pregnancy I was put on strict bedrest by my doctor.
16We moved 2 months ago. I'm 35 weeks now.
Too much work. This place has stairs and I just don't have the energy for it. I still have boxes to unpack.
17We moved apartments 30 days before my son was born. Of course my husband found out last minute that he had to take a business trip the week we were planning on packing. My ankles started swelling like crazy the morning after I started doing a lot of packing.
18I moved on the day I was induced. I lay down for a nap at the new house at 5pm, left the house at 8pm, was in the hospital bed by 9pm and induced at 10.30pm. There was a moment after we left our old place where I became gripped with fear about being induced and decided I couldn't cope with it. It wasn't our choice to move that day - crap English way of making buying and selling very drawn out. Never again!
19We moved when I was 7 months pregnant. I just found out 2 days ago that I'm pregnant again so we definitly need a bigger place. I really hate moving!
20Congrats sarahm73
21Thank you kiki!
22We moved when I was 30 weeks along. We moved from a loft with no washer/dryer to a loft with a washer/dryer. When we were packing, I was just trying to remember that the move was for the baby, and that we would be all settled before her arrival.
On the nights when I was exhausted from packing another box, Alex reminded me that we weren't just moving for a washer/dryer...we were moving to a new home for the three of us.
We did hire movers for the big day of moving.
The only thing I wish I would have done, and just totally forgot to do was label all the boxes. It was a good thing nothing happened during the move, because I was the only one to know where everything was at, or where it should go. Had something happened...there would have been 30 boxes of unknown items.
23We were in the process of building our house while I was pregnant. They kept giving me hope that it would be done in time for us to move in before baby arrived. I knew it wasn't happening. The worst thing about it was not being able to nest. Now 7 months down the road we are still waiting for the contractors to finish on the final touch up work which leaves me feeling like I can't really spread out until I have all the men out, the walls touched up and the things they keep breaking fixed. I missed nesting and having that warm feeling of creating the perfect little nursery.
24Congrats! If there anyone who can move while pregnant, its you!
