As a new mom, I was told that my baby should be peeing no less than six to eight times a day and pooping at least twice. Because I was nursing, I really couldn't tell how much she was taking in so I was dependent on her wet diapers to tell me.
My husband and I couldn't tell so we got nervous when she had to go in for a weight check two days later. We confessed to the doctor and she let us in on a lil secret: Put a cotton ball or a piece of tissue in the diaper and if that gets wet then you will know. Disposable diapers are so absorbent that sometimes you can't tell. So unless you are a green mama and use cloth diapers (good for you), put this trick up your sleeve.

The Body Shop
I did that will all 3 of my babies.
1What a great idea! Thanks for the tip!
2wtf all you do is feel the weight of the diaper!
3I've never had a problem knowing if a baby's diaper is wet or not. Like Death of marat said ... just feel the weight - diapers are basically weightless when dry.
4I tried weighing, feeling, and pretty much everything else. When they are only peeing about an ounce when they are newborns I found it was still hard to tell, which is why this trick was so great for us.
5With little bitty newborns, it can definitely be hard to tell sometimes! Great tip!
6This is a great trick. There is so much to worry about with a new baby that little pointers like this can be lifesavers.
