It seemed Hannah Montana wasn't Miley Cyrus's only alter ego when scandalous photos of the teen recently surfaced on the Internet.
The suggestive pictures captured Disney's darling laying on her boyfriend's lap and exposing her bra. They were enough to break any father's achy heart.
And, just when it looked like wholesome Miley had gone Lohan, the 15-year-old publically apologized. To see what she said, read more.
According to People, she said:
"The pictures of me on the Internet were silly, inappropriate shots. I appreciate all the support of my fans, and hope they understand that along the way I am going to make mistakes and I am not perfect. I never intended for any of this to happen and I am truly sorry if I have disappointed anyone."
In addition to the those snapshots, Miley is also concerned about the photographs taken by Annie Leibovitz for Vanity Fair, in which the supposedly clothed star appears topless.
She said:
"My goal in my music and my acting is always to make people happy. For Vanity Fair, I was so honored and thrilled to work with Annie [Leibovitz]. I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be 'artistic' and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed."
In response to the pictures, Miley's employer, The Disney Channel said:
Unfortunately, as the article suggests, a situation was created to deliberately manipulate a 15-year-old in order to sell magazines.
On the contrary, Beth Kseniak of Vanity Fair told The New York Times:
Miley's parents and/or minders were on the set all day. Since the photo was taken digitally, they saw it on the shoot and everyone thought it was a beautiful and natural portrait of Miley.
Is this a publicity stunt or a photo shoot gone wrong?

What is going on here? Annie Leibovitz is one of the best in her field. Annie should have known better. My respect for her is down the tube. Where was all of Miley's people during this shoot? The girl is only 15. Check out the picture it borders on porn. I cannot imagine this was for publicity. Miley's face is all over as it is. I have a jar of soap with Miley's face on it for the grandkids. My husband said to get rid of it!
1She "never intended this to happen"? What, the pictures being leaked or taking photos of herself in her underwear?.
2In regards to the Vanity Fair pics, presumably they would have to be approved by Miley, or being as she's 15 her mother/manager. It's like she just remembered she worked for Disney and thought she'd better distance herself. It reminds me of Lilo's Vanity Fair interview where she talked about her eating disorder and then backtracked the day it came out. I'm just thankful that she's not as popular in England as she is in the US.
She's 15, its was only a matter of time before she made a mistake. And considering what else some starlets (Lindsey, Britney, Jamie and others) have been up to, this is hardly a big deal. Just use it as an opportunity to talk about why this was a bad decision and the consequences of not thinking before acting and move on.
3The Leibovitz shoot was completely supervised. All her people and her parents were there, and initially everyone involved loved them. The public apology didn't come along until Disney threw a hissy fit over their wholesome little billion dollar starlet. I believe this is the full set of pictures, and she doesn't really look topless to me- http://www.thehollywoodgossip.com/2008/04/released-miley-cyrus-vanity-fa...
4sounds very much like sharon stone after the crotch shot in basic instinct "i didn't know!". this is no mistake, miley is making it known that she is gorwing up. her parents were there with her. another childhood star is on her way.
5i really dont think the shots are all that bad... she's completely covered... i dunno maybe i'm just a wanton hussy?
6Really, I would like to see her Mom, Dad, handlers, VF and Annie Leibovitz apologize. She's a 15 year old girl who has been given a ton of responsibility and asked to succeed in an industry that sexualizes young women.
As far as the photos with her boyfriend, hi, your 15 yo is also doing this, but luckily for her, those photos aren't made public.
7ha ha-
I think the magazine is totally in the right on this- her parents were there, there is video of them being there and laughing about the shoot.
I don't think its that bad, but they shouldn't blame other people when its pretty clear they were approving of the pic-
8i am sorry but the girl is only 15. those photos make her look like she is 25 to 30 years old. What is going on here. First Jamie Lynn Spears getting pregnant now this? I mean seriously. Her parents should really be blamed.
9I honestly believe that the media is making this more of a big deal of what it really is. The girl is showing her back! Her parents were both present at the shoot. And she looks glamorous not trashy. If she were on the cover of PLayboy maybe but hello this is Vanity Fair. She looks great
10WTH??? She's FIFTEEN, not three. So what? If teens get drunk and do sex and drugs, thats bad. But doing an artistic photshoot where she looks so beautiful is bashed...
11she may be 15, but she does not live the life of a 15 year old. she has her own apartment (on the back of her parents lot, but she comes and goes as she pleases), a more than full time job (employes her dad) and makes adult decisions such as what projects to persue.
the pix are inapporpriate (imho) because she is a minor and is shown undressed. it's suggestive of something that hannah montana shouldn't (in the eyes of the parents of her fans) be up to. another case of young girls looking up to someone who make choices the parents of the young fans aren't comfortable with.
it was obvious that she would do pictures like this, but it does seem a little soon. was britney even doing this at 15? makes you wonder how much lower the bar can be set, you know.
12So she's not Shirley Temple, big deal
I mean how fake and creepy is it to watch her movies from back in the day?
I dont think its that bad. I like Annie and Miley; they're both very REAL.
13I'm sorry but it IS a big deal when your fan base is children. Miley is a brand and when she signed on with Disney, she signed up to take on the responsibility of being a clean wholesome role model. If she didn't want that responsibility, she should have pursued other projects. The picture wouldn't normally be a big deal except that she's 'Hannah Montana' and she markets specifically to children. Because of that, this photo shoot screams of inappropriateness and Annie should have known better, Vanity Fair should have known better, and Miley's parents ESPECIALLY should have known better. I mean really, could you imagine if Mr. Rogers did something like this? Could you imagine the disappointment you would have had as a child if you saw him in anything even remotely similar to that? I still remember being horrified at Madonna's antics when I was growing up and I wasn't even her target audience. I really feel for all Hannah Montana fans who are about to get disappointed with her.
14It is her back. She would be just as covered in a bathing suit. I think this is perfect publicity. I love VF and I don't think the pictures are distasteful.
15Actually, I think the photos are beautiful.
Miley has taken MUCH racier (practically vulgar) photos on her own. Those are on the net, too.
16I'm with Snowbunny.
17Don't blame her because she takes 'racy' photoshoots at 15, blame the people and industry that are more than happy to make her look older than 15.
Glowingmoon, yeah, the pictures arent ugly, the only issue is shes 15! she looks like she just rolled out of bed topless after a *busy* night!
18i don't see how this could be considered a publicity stunt.. that's actually a long shot IMO.. i think this show how far from reality Vanity Fair is (and any other magazine) if they believe portraying pictures of a topless 15 year old is appropriate. second to blame are the parents IF they were present, or knew that this would be the outcome. i honestly wouldn't be surprised if this turned out different than what they expected.. i really don't see them being supportive of this, considering how strict they are with her..
this is EXACTLY what happened to britney, and lindsey.. the media creates the situation more times than not.. it's unfortunate.
19liketysplit, roxtarchic, snowbunny, Briandiesel, yadiet, FashionisForever, j2e1n9, Casasailer, Glowingmoon, Thank God I thought I was the only one in America who was asking myself what is the big deal. The photos are beautiful all she is showing is her back. Come on how many 12-4 year olds do you know that read Vanity Fair, if the media did not turn this into a big deal these kids would not even know about it. Even the so called risque photos of her and her boyfriend I thought so what it is not like she was giving him a blow job she was just laying on him. Although she should have known better than to put it on her myspace page hasn't she ever herd of Vanessa Hudgens. She is a young girl and young girls want to feel and look sexy (every woman on this site was 15 once and don' tell me you did not want to look and feel grown up and beautiful at 15) as long as she is doing it in a respectable way (to me these photos are very respectable it is Vanity Fair after all not Playboy) their is nothing wrong with that. I'm so sick of people making girls feel ashamed of becoming women and realizing they are sexual creatures. I would rather have it be something gradual than overnight like Christian Aguliera's "look at me I'm dirrrty and sexy" which is not sexy at all.
20I am so sad to see the latest Miley photos. My little girl (she is
LOVES Miley. She wants
to sing like Miley and dress like her. She looks to Miley as a friend. Now she is heart broken. She doesn't want to grow up and be like her at all. She is acting as if she lost her best
friend.
I don't think Miley realizes how much of an impact she has on her fans. Yes she is growing up ans she has a lot of responsiblity because she is in the public eye, but because of that she needs to be a lot more concious of the things that she does. Shame on her PARENTS for not nipping the whole thing in the bud before all these photos were taken.
21yes, but shame on parents for letting their kids idolize people who are just going to screw up.. having miley be your 8 year olds dream isn't a fair expectation, nor is it realistic. i get what your saying, but i just think people need to see that she is 15, and WILL make mistakes. if your 8 year old is grieving like she lost her best friend, maybe she needs to have an actual best friend.
22this girl is obviously an idiot
23an idiot to take the photos and then apologize for it. she made the conscious decision to do it, her parents were there. annie leibovitz is amazing.
24annie leibovitz has lost site of reality. for her to think a 15 year old child, wrapped up in a bed sheet, with tousled hair and a similar facial expression is ART is wack period.
25Why would anyone be upset about this? Every other 15 year old girl in America with a msypace page has taken pictures like that, or worse...the only difference is that Miley has a famous photographer to take the pictures for her. Oh no! A teenage girl showing her back! I think it's worse that she feels she needs to apologize for that.
26phatE art is different things to different people and I think it's ART. tralalala, I think you right on.
27I don't believe that she is sorry or embarrassed. Unless she is a complete idiot and didn't realize what she was doing when she was taking half naked pictures of herself and putting them out there for everyone to see.
28ohjeeze, i group you in w/ the ones i was speaking of then.. and puddles, i think she is really sorry and embarrassed of the repercussion of it..i think at the time of it all, she had no idea it would turn into this.. she's only 15..
29Here is a girl who is in the public eye and is obviously being exploited to sell whatever is that needs to be sold. She is in a completely different world than ours. She made a mistake. She is owning up to it. It is unfortunate but there are a lot of young ladies out there who are doing the excact same thing. After all is said and done, my child will never even see the VF pics. Her image is still untarnished in my child's eyes. It will remain so as long as I keep tabs on what goes on in her life. It is my resposibilty.
30MILEY WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU?....;0
31i agree with txlatina 100% on this one.
32Yawn,
I am sorry but this whole thing is pathetically hypocritical. Most pop culture sexualises teens to the point of insanity, then screams and shouts when one of them actually bothers to admit they're that way anyway.
So what..its OKAY if one of them gets preggers and has babies before most of us entered University but this flips people out?
This kind of thing would be far less of a problem if we did not consistently try to force kids to grow up early and hold them to insane standards of maturity and glamour.
Its a two-faced world.
33shes 15years old and i feel bad for her because she is making her last movie right now and i have every thing of her like bed and other stuff but i am her biggist fan in the world and i never got to meet her in person and i never went to her concert and i dont have a backstage pass or have a concert ticket and i am very up set.I live in the usa on six forks road zip coad is 27615 and live in the landings wood bend dr. apt D on six forks road if miley wants to send me a otagrough or come to meet and meet lilly to.Me and take me to her concert before july the 13 because i have church camp. I hate this as much as you do cause she has to take care of her babby and she has other resposablities to do. Thanks your friend dawnna shouse
