I could never be satisfied with just being mom, but a succesful career with no family to come home to wouldn't make me happy either. I need a good balance of both!

A mother’s value to her family, and her family to her, can’t be measured as easily as job performance or satisfaction. Raising happy, productive children is hard work, filled with obstacles, but I can’t imagine anything – Oscars, Pulitzers included – that could ease the pain of failing with your children. That doesn’t mean you have to love everything your children ultimately decide to do, more that you raise them to be capable of creating satisfying, productive lives.
