In the season six premiere of Desperate Housewives, viewers find out that Lynette and Tom are expecting twins again. As a mother who knows the routine, she goes in for a doctor's appointment and begins chatting with a perky, first-time mom-to-be. A straight shooter, Lynette tells the woman some stories that could make our Why Didn't Anybody Tell Me list and rains on the pregnant lady's parade. I was in stitches as she reveals some ugly truths of motherhood, especially the bit about bikinis, but the end of the episode left me a tad teary as she wonders about her ability to love the unexpected babies.

"Tells it like it is"? "Straight-shooter"? I get that this is supposed to be an overly dramatic show, but give me a break. Maybe it's "straight" if her husband is a lazy jerk who doesn't help out, but it's not telling it like it is for the majority of women. And puh-leez, her whining about her "stucco ceiling" belly and then in the ultrasound scene, her belly was flat even at 3 months pregnant with twins (her fifth and sixth babies no less) and not a stretch mark in sight.
The only thing she did in this scene was whine like a two-year-old and make herself look like a b*tch.

2That was hilarious, though in my case not entirely true. The stomach and boobs part is right on, but my husband still helps out quite a bit.
