Lil Tip: Put Things in Perspective

Actress Kate Hudson is often photographed with her lil sidekick, son Ryder Robinson, 4. The twosome spend the majority of their time together and the star who entered motherhood at 24 wouldn't have it any other way. While so many parents focus on what they miss from their prebaby days, Kate has a different perspective. She addressed this issue during an interview with W Magazine. It said:

With turning 30 on her horizon next April, Hudson says, "Am I gonna look back and say, 'God, I wish I could have gone to that . . . concert?' I'd rather be listening to my son sing songs. I'd rather be watching him sleep."

I fully welcome anyone's decision to have children at whatever age they feel prepared emotionally and financially to do so, however there's no harm in waiting-- enjoy doing things that young people do and THEN having children. It seems like there's nothing lose and lots to gain.

I agree to a point. With her resources I bet she never missed out on anything. For some things might not be as rosy. Especially if they are SUPER young when they have their child.

I agree with her. I had my son at 21 and although my husband and I missed alot of normal things 20-somethings do, we have experienced so much joy that many of our friends still don't know. I'm certainly not advocating having children that young but kid's certainly put things in perspective.

I love her attitude, I think it's a wonderful outlook. I wouldn't have chosen to have my kids any earlier (my first was when I was 27), but had I gotten pregnant earlier I doubt I'd regret it either. I loved the three years of marriage without kids, but I don't think it would've ruined anything to have started earlier either. Then again, I sowed a lot of wild oats in my late teens and early twenties. I settled down a lot when I met my husband, and thankfully so.

I love her attitude! Its sweet about "listening to her son sing or watching him sleep". I would much rather have done that too with my kids rather than party or concerts!
