Lil Tip: Fitting Rooms

If you're a nursing mom on the shop and baby needs to be fed, there's no need to seek out a public restroom for privacy.

In a pinch, just duck into a dressing room and take care of your lil one. Not only will her appetite be satiated, but you may also find a new frock.

I wouldn't use a dressing room if the store was crowded or if they only have a few dressing rooms. The Nordstrom near me has a lounge for nursing with a changing table in one of their bathrooms. SO nice!

I did this when I was breast feeding. I would always grab whatever was closest to the dressing room and slip in.

I was shopping with a friend when she had to nurse her baby daughter(mine was past the nursing stage). She used the fitting room. The problem with this is that takes WAY too long and isn't very considerate of the other shoppers. When she came out, there was a huge line, and everyone was giving her dirty looks. A lot of babies take about 30 minutes to nurse. I just don't think that's fair. I don't think you should have to use a public rest room either. I guess I just don't get it; I always just went out to the car to nurse mine. or brought along a bottle of breast milk. Much more convenient for all involved.

That's so much better than a public restroom. I just don't know if I would do it in a busy place where people are waiting to try on clothes and possibly buy something. I like the sling idea, but I'm a bit more bold now than I was the first time around. I might even pull a Maggie Gyllenhaal ;-)

Yeah, it was a huge story here. There is some breastfeeding advocacy group & they all came down. The breast-feed-in thing was crazy cool. All these moms from very different backgrounds all hanging out, feeding their babies. And ones with older kids brought their toddlers & had a grand old time! That poor woman, though. I can't imagine how awful that must have been!

I always just nursed my kids in the sling. I never felt the need to hide. (not that i totally exposed my boobs or anything, though, lol.)

I would pick a Macy's or other department store that was a little bigger - so I could hide out! I couldn't imagine getting kicked out - that is just so wrong!

I unintentionally had to do this numerous times. I don't know what I would have done if it wasn't allowed! You just have to be careful not to get the breastmilk on any of the store's items.

There was some HUGE drama about this at a local Victoria's Secret. A mama popped into a fitting room to breast feed & the shop clerk raised a huge stink & kicked her out! There was a "breast-feed-in" in front of the store about a week later & I think the clerk got fired

I was at Bloomingdales with my sister-in-law and I nursed my son while she was trying stuff on in the fitting room. It took me substantially longer to feed the baby than it did for her to try on 2 dresses. The sales clerk kept coming back asking if everything was okay and if we needed anything. :)

Good tip - This is where I always feed the baby when I was out. You really don't realize how hard it is to find a place to nurse until you are a nursing mom.
