Lil Tip: Baby's Nightime Friend

Neither my daughter or son sleeps with a particular stuffed animal or blanket, but numerous friends have told me their children do. And, that they introduced lovies like this one from Red Envelope early on in sleep training sessions to help their kids feel comfortable when falling asleep on their own at night.

Most parents also advise that new parents invest in more than one since kids quickly become attached to the blankie and hell breaks loose when it's being laundered or lost.

We introduced a lovey to my daughter and now she HAS to have it to sleep. It also calms her down for naps too. The great thing about it is that we choose what it would be... it's a stuffed bear from IKEA (only like $2.50). We have two (one for home, one for travel) and her grandma has one at her house too. Hey at $2.50 we can afford to stock all the family with one and have plenty of extras just in case.

My oldest daughter had a bear that she could NOT be without. If we had to wash her "baby" she had to be very well distracted during the washing and if she saw you put him in the washer she Flipped! My youngest daughter loves anything blanket like that she can rub on her face to go to sleep. She has several of these types of blankies with the animal heads and loves them. You can find them for really cheap so you can buy several to have on hand. Also you can find them in different sizes too. They make great shower gifts for parents to be.
