First off that baby in the picture is so cute. My problem is never the kids, like in the situation you explain telewyo. It's bad parenting. People that allow their kids to kick the back of your seat or throw trash over the seats. Or think their child is precious and everyone else appreciates them singing at the top of their lungs. I realize not everyone thinks my child is as precious as I do and we try not to impose on others around us. I don't think that's a horrible rule to follow.

I've experienced the full range of children flying...I've sat next to babies/kids who are wonderful and cute and sweet for the whole flight, one that threw up and cried for a while but then was fine and I've been on an 6.5 hour flight where a 2 year old was screaming in the airport and continued to scream for the entire 6.5 hours on the plane. I've never felt so sorry for a parent before! The mom held him and walked with him for the ENTIRE flight! I think we all felt sorry for her and knew it wasn't her or the kid's fault but when you've been traveling for 48 hours and can't get any sleep because of the wailing, I have to say a couple of times when they went past I felt a twinge of annoyance and secretly wished that she would just give him some baby nyquil or something. lickety split is right though...I've probably been annoyed on more flights by adults than kids.

i'm so tired of people complaining about babies on airplanes. if you don't like their traveling partners on commercial airlines; rent a private plane. buying a seat on an airline doesn't mean you get everything just like you want it. i'm way more bothered by the guy next to me that spills over on to my seat and hogs the arm rest, or the woman wearing to much perfume, than a baby going to visit grandma. traveling by commercial airplane, like going to a movie or riding in an elevator, means you are stuck with a group of people in a confined space for a set period of time. accept it or don't go there.
