If your tots are up for a kid-friendly twist on the traditional sandwich, Kate Gosselin (who recently shared her tricks for feeding a family of ten with us) offered up her recipe for a rolled treat and another similar version for more adventurous or adult palates.
Cream Cheese Roll
- 1 slice bread (all breads work well)
- Light cream cheese
- ½ cucumber, sliced length-wise
- 1 slice smoked turkey
Trim the crusts of the bread and gently roll out the slice so it resembles pastry. Spread with light cream cheese. Place the turkey slice in the center of the bread. Add cucumber slices. Roll the bread similar to a sushi roll and cut into mini rolls.

Cream Cheese Roll – Option #2 for adults
- 1 slice bread (all breads work well)
- Light cream cheese
- ½ avocado, sliced
- 1 slice smoked salmon
Trim the crusts of the bread and gently roll out the slice so it resembles pastry. Spread with light cream cheese. Place the smoked salmon in the center of the bread. Add avocado slices. Roll the bread similar to a sushi roll and cut into mini rolls.

Karen Millen
She really likes to take credit for other people's recipes, doesn't she? This is nothing new or unique, my mom was making these when I was a kid.
1I expect her next recipe to be:
2 slices white bread
Peanut butter
Jelly (your choice)
I really think Kate is awesome and I love the show, but these "recipes" are pretty laughable.
2Just because she says she makes something doesn't mean she's taking credit or acting like she invented it. You can open any cookbook and almost all the recipes in there are in another cookbook or are somewhere else. Very few recipes are Truely original. I mean, I've never heard of making these, so it's new and pretty neat to me.
3Right, but it's credited as "Kate's recipe." Cookbooks generally credit if it's original or don't put anything.
4check out paragraph 6 http://truthbreedshatred.blogspot.com/2008/07/twisted-part-2.html
5I hate to be nit-picky but these recipes are really, really lame and are barely 'recipes'. Hahahaha gigimama! I bet that will be the next revolutionary gastronomic experiment coming from Kate. Maybe she'll get really crazy and give you the optional choice of sticking some bacon on there!
6$10 says she'll have a cookbook out by Christmas.
7Make you wish you'd write your own kids cook book huh? Kate rocks, I'll buy it.
8I like the recipes she uses. Simple and practical for moms with no time.
9I make a rockin eggplant parmesean I call it "my" recipe, I am sure there are a million just like it out there.....so what? Let her call it hers, whats the big deal? is there a frikkin patent on it?
10Kate never claims to have "invented" the recipes she uses. She just says this is what she makes and how she makes it. In her defense, MANY people ASK for "her" recipes!!!
11They are simple and great for kids. What is the big deal? If she does come out with a cookbook, and I hope she does, I will buy it! I have 4 young kids and could use some easy kid friendly recipes, whether they are "hers" or not!!! I wish everyone would get off of Kate, so she isn't perfect. Who is??? I could go on, but won't waste the time. If you don't like them, don't watch the show.
I do still like the Gosselins and wish them the best.
