The six ways to increase your milk supply is mostly a collection of old wives tales and folk remedies.
11) Beer: This is a common folk remedy. Current studies indicate that alcoholic beverages do not increase milk production and, in fact, can lead to baby getting less milk
2) Fenugreek: Yes, this is a common, reputable galactagogue (A substance that increases milk supply is called a galactagogue) The average mother does not need galactagogues to increase or maintain supply and using one should be last on the list of things to try
3)Healthy Meals: Eating healthy is great, but not a requirement for good milk production. Milk production is only negatively effected by mom's diet if she is near starvation.
4) Mother's Milk Tea: Many mothers try to boost their milk supply by drinking herbal teas, but the dose can't be as easily controlled as capsules or tinctures, so the results will be inconsistent. If you need a glalactgogue, take it in a way that you can measure the dose to make sure you get the dose right.
5)Frequent Nursing: This should be number one on the list. For most moms, all that you need to do to increase supply is to nurse more frequently. This is much more effective than pumping.
6) Water: She says "The more water one drinks, the better her supply." Not true. As long as you drink enough to satisfy your thirst, it is plenty. Unless you are severely dehydrated, drinking more water (or other liquids) will not increase your milk supply.
Oh no, my comment spoke against mothers drinking alcohol while feeding their children because alcohol is passed through breastmilk. I guess common sense and caring about babies means your comment gets deleted here.
