How Would You Pick a Birthday?

As the old Mother Goose rhyme goes,
Monday's child is fair of face.
Tuesday's child is full of grace.
Wednesday's child is full of woe.
Thursday's child has far to go.
Friday's child is loving and giving.
Saturday's child works hard for a living,
But the child who is born on the Sabbath Day
Is bonny and blithe and good and gay.

Half expecting a c–section delivery, I was worried about having to pick my child's due date. Would I want a child born "loving and giving" or "full of grace"? Luckily, she made the choice and came on her own. Parents scheduling a c–section or undergoing inducement have to choose a due date. How would you pick a date?

I dont care so much about days of the week but I would definitley try to pick a good number. I would choose my lucky number or a day that the numbers would add up to it.

My OB with my second did surgery on Tuesdays as well, assuming they were planned. He did mine on Friday because I was in labor. *lol*I was bummed that I couldn't schedule for Jan 26th or Feb 6th because all of us have a 6 in our birthday. It's not a special number or anything, it's just become one because of the birthdays. But the 26th was a Saturday and the 6th was too late. So instead they made sure to pull her out at 7:56 am. That was pretty awesome.

My daughter was due on a Friday, but wasn't budging, so my doctor had me go in on Monday evening to be induced. She wasn't born until Tuesday afternoon by C-section. With my son, I was automatically having another C-section, so he too was born on a Tuesday, since that is the day that my OB does his surgeries! But not for nothing, my son is not too graceful - he knocked out his first tooth at 7 months!

None of the above. I chose which one sounded good. I thought Friday, Feb 1st gave me more time after Christmas than going with the Monday of that same week. I was given a choice of any day within the week. Plus my sons were both born on a Friday and I liked that I would be able to make it three. It had nothing to do with the star sign, meaning of the day, etc. I never even considered any of that since none of it means much to me personally.I love being able to choose their birthday, though. Not that I ended up being able to with my first two. *lol* The first was an emergency c-section and the second came two and a half weeks before his scheduled c-section. Only the third went full term and on her scheduled date.

i had a planned c-section...i had two dates to choose from by my doctor...three days apart...i went with the 20th as i was born on the 20th and so has by nephew....i was also looking at the astrological signs as the first date would make the baby a gemini and the second would make it a cancer...however!! both dates are on the cusp so either way the baby would have qualities from both! my baby was born on a friday! :-))

Well I guess it depends on the season I would be due in. Like I would avoid: April 1, Feb 29 (if leap year), etc. If it was around a relative's birthday I might have the baby born on their birthday. Especially if the baby was due near my granny's birthday. But I wouldn't want s/he born on my aunt's or cousin's bdays... bad situations there. lol faerymagick, I was born on a Wednesday ;)

well, I would have to work around my schedule and my kids schedule, but picking a certain date if possible...like to honor a relative, would be nice. I also avoided certain dates with the c section birth of my son way back when. My ex father in law's bday was Aug. 9 and that was the first day my doc suggested. I said no way! That man hated me and my kids. I picked August 8 instead. And, I think I would avoid a "Wednesday" if possible...don't want a child full of woe!! LOL.

I was induced last month and the doctor picked the date. Not an issue for me. I was happy whenever she came so long as she was healthy. I don't think June 18 is a bad DOB.

Sofi - that is so funny - my son was due February 22nd, but when I went for my 39 week check up (on Valentine's Day), we learned that he was breech. I hadn't had anything to eat yet that day and my doctor wanted to go across the street to the hospital and do the c-section right then and there. I kind of freaked out about the suddenness of everything and then told him I didn't want my baby to have a Valentine's Day birthday, so I convinced him to let me wait 24 hours! My husband and I went for nice, romantic lunch, we ate all my favorite foods for dinner (pizza, ice cream, etc.) and at 10 AM on the 15th I met my doctor at the hospital!

I actually may have that chance coming up, and have already decided to push for 8/8/08. I'm not usually one who believes in good luck, but I figure why chance it. Plus I think it'd be kinda cool.

I did have to pick a date with my second. This was in February and had a chance for Valentine's Day. At first, I hesitated and wanted to keep that day special for hubby and me, but the doc and hubby convinced me it would be a great birthday. I actually went into labor late at night on the 13th and my sweetheart came on the 14th anyways. Everyone loves to hear that she has a birthday on Valentine's Day. If it wasn't so close to a holiday, I think I would have let the doctor just choose.

My son was two weeks early and was born on a Tuesday morning exactly at the sunrise time. One of the nurses kept calling him "sunrise baby". I opted for Gabriel instead :)
