I don"t know if there is much of a difference between NOT bribe and rewarding good behavior. If your child expects a "reward", does it not become a bribe to do what you want them to do?

It's always good to reward positive bahavior! If a child is seeking attention and getting that attention by using bad behavior, rewarding the good behavior can make a big difference. If they see and learn that they are getting something positive when they are positive, it willeventually stick and they'll be proud of their good behavior. My son is in grade 1 and having a hard time not following examples of bad behavior. He's learning with sticks that if he keeps all his 3 sticks all day, he'll get 15 minutes of computer time the next day. If all his sticks are gone, he'll get no computer time, and the other 2 are in between. It's something he can actually look at on his desk to see how is behavior is affecting him and hopefully be aware of making a better choice. If he keeps his 3 sticks for 3 days in a row, he gets some extra special time with either me or my husband to read or watch a bit of tv or talk and cuddle.
