Choosing a person's name is an honor and an undertaking! Parents-to-be often fret over monikers for months and discuss different options with friends and family members. Lots of couples change names once, twice, or even twenty times during the process. Mamas can be fickle because there are so many things to consider. How many times did you change your choice while pregnant?

I was adamant about not naming my daughter until she was born. I wanted to see her before I named her. We brought a list of names (Elizabeth, Anna, Sarah, Claire ... and James, in case "she" was a boy!) to the hospital with us. I intended to see her, then talk to her dad about what her name should be. Instead, he named her Elizabeth while I was unconscious from the c-section. >:(

my parents didn't change mine until my mother heard Courtney in a maternity store a couple of weeks before I was born. before that I was going to be Melissa which I would've perfered actually as it's hard to twist into an insult

Once we found out we were having a boy, yeah we made a list and we checked it twice and we stuck to it because we really liked it. And if I were having a girl I already know what her name will be and I am never changing.

With my daughter, we never actually decided until 2 days after she was born and they needed a name before leaving the hospital. We had discussed it at length and were fairly certain ahead of time (but were still open to other possibilities), but didn't make a decision until then. With my son, we decided a few months before he was born and never changed it.

Never. We picked out first and middle name for either a boy or a girl within days of finding out we were expecting and stuck with it.

Ditto for me. Never and I had the name picked beforehand.

Never. In fact, all of our kids were named before they were conceived. Which means we still have the girl name from last night left over and we've already added a boy name in case we have another.
