How Long Were You Dilated Before You Delivered?

Pack the bag — it's time to have baby . . . or not. When a first-time mom-to-be hears she's dilated, she may want to head straight to the hospital, but it can be days or even weeks before the cervix is ready for a wee one to pass through. An expectant mother has to be 100 percent effaced and dilated 10 centimeters for baby to debut (via vaginal delivery). Were you dilated for a while?

I was dilated 5.5cm and 90% effaced for almost two weeks, then my water eventually broke. It was the slowest couple of weeks of my life, since I thought I'd go into labor any minute.

I was dilated 1 to 1.5 cm for a couple of weeks, and about 80% effaced. Actually I was 90% effaced at my last appointment before my water broke a few days later.

I had an internal at 34 weeks and was already 50% effaced and 4 centis dialated.. lol. It was one of the reasons he wasn't too worried about having to induce me so early because of the preeclampsia.

Where is the not sure option? I never had an internal until the day before I delivered (they are option at my OB's office) and I was 3 cm then. I delivered the next morning. So I have no idea how long I was dilated.
