How Long Until You Went Out?

On Friday night, proud new parents Joel Madden and Nicole Richie stepped out for a night on the town – just two weeks after welcoming Harlow Kate into their lives. Mama Richie looks pretty darn good for just delivering a baby!

I was too worn out to even think about hitting the party circuit that soon.

When did you swing back into the after hours scene?

My girlfriend FORCED me out for a girl's night when I was 5 weeks pp. At first I was cranky about it, but I had a great time, it was just what I needed. Nothing crazy, I mean I was breastfeeding so I didn't drink but I got out and had a great time with my girlfriends.

We all went out to eat after a week and after that she went everywhere with us. She didn't leave my side due to breastfeeding until I went on a vacation weekend at 11 months.

I actually went to a party the day after being released from the hospital. It was New Years Eve and my daughter had been released that day. I was just so happy that she was better then I went out with her and my husband, it wasnt for long but it was worth it.

With my first, we went out immediately. Literally - I came home from the hospital on Monday and on Tuesday we left the baby with my mom and went to dinner. Bleeding, c-section staples and all. That's they have pads. ;)With my second, my mom wasn't here right away so I think it was a couple of weeks.

After my first it was about 2-3 months before I went out again. But with my second, I didn't go out on the town but I was visiting and going here and there two days after I had her.

I think it was a couple weeks, my daughter would on end for no reason and one day DH and I had both been home. we called my mom to come and give us a breather while we went to get something quickly from the store. we were gone 15 minutes and then back home. i didn't leave her again until she was months old.

If I had a trustworthy sitter/family member here, I can see already having gone out and my son is just over two weeks old. I feel relatively good, aside from exhaustion, and could really use a few hours out to dinner or something. But we have been out a few times with baby--for lunch, last night to the ice rink to watch my team practice, etc. We still have yet to attempt dinner with him. But I can totally see going out (for a least a couple of hours) by now if I had a nanny like Nicole. I think it would be good for sanity!

I'll answer for my sister as well since I don't have kids of my own. She went out about 4 months later and only for a couple of hours. For the first 3 months, she didn't allow visitors (only my parents and I) since the baby was premature and didn't have the normal weight for a newborn. SORRY FOR ANY MISSPELLING, ENGLISH IS NOT MY MOTHER TONGUE LANGUAGE!

with #1 i wouldn't even let anyone vist for 6 weeks, including grandparents! with #3 we stopped at several places on the way home from the hospital. i wonder if i sort of "knew" something on a subconscious level with #1 (who is severely disabled) and maybe i was protecting her. i was a different mom with her than with the other 2.

We went out to dinner without baby in toe about 2 months after - but we were home in less then 2 hours! The first time I was out out was a wedding like a year later!

Well dang can she stop bleeding first. I mean a run to the store to get groceries or to get your nails or hair done...something that just gets you out the house for an hr or two. I mean we're regular folks we don't have nannies on the regular, so for us we may wait a little longer to hit the town. I would go out maybe a month after, only if my mom were watching the baby though. I am just old school I guess, so that has a little to do with it as well, LOL!

I'm still not sure I've hit the "after hours scene" again, and my kids are 5 and 2. :rotfl: But, the first time we went out at all after our first was born was about 5 months and we just went to a movie.

I answered for my sister since i don't have kids. We took her out to a nice dinner like 2 weeks after my niece was born. Just to help her feel normal and give her a chance to look nice. She liked it. Also we went on walks to the park like just a few weeks after.
