How Do You Measure Your Job As a Mother?

Kids don't always turn out the way their parents expected them to — whether they take a wrong turn or walk on an all together different path, does it really matter? Some mothers would say it does believing that their maternal accomplishments are based on how well their offspring do in life. Others would disagree thinking that a good mom is one who lives without regret. Do you believe your children reflect the job you did in raising them?

i think parents help them become who they are. but you can't mold a child into something they aren't. extra tutoring won't make a child a genius and long hours on the sports field can't compete with natural talent. manners and kindness are a reflection of home life, other than that, past the age of about 14 i think kids are who they were born to be.i have 3 kids. one is special needs, one is top of her class, sport, whatever she trys, and one is here for the party. they are who they are.

I do think children reflect the job you do as a parent. I take my job as a parent seriously. What you do as a parent shapes your child. That's why it is important how you speak and act around them. You are their role model and what you do affects them.

I think it's a combination. Children are a reflection of their parents, sometimes. And then sometimes they turn out totally different from how you've tried to raise them. And sometimes it's a bit of both.

I know I didn't turn out the way my parents would have liked me to, but I'm happy and I think that's what matters to them. I think as long as you show your children the world, and make sure they're happy and healthy, you're doing a good job.

you do your best with your child to guide them. as they grow you sometimes can't make all the decisions for them. its a live and learn thing. but when people tell me that my children are the most polite kids they've ever met, well that just tickles me! *and why can't they be like that at home* :)

I know i'm doing well when friends and family compliment you on it. As a single mother I'm trying my best to make sure that my son grows up to be a decent, smart, respectful man. We also have to be aware that our children go through many phases just as we did when we were growing up.
