As the owner of a Britax Marathon car seat, I was excited to try out the company's Britax Frontier 85 ($280) combination booster. Designed for kids 40-120 pounds (25-85 pounds if used as a car seat), the seat uses a five-point harness in seat mode, and has both LATCH and tether options to secure it to the car.
Was it comfortable? Designed like a racing seat, the Frontier 85 had plenty of padding throughout and an extra-plush cushion for sleepy heads. The "fourth harness point" in the booster mode (a seat belt positioner that keeps the lap belt in the proper position) also made for a comfortable seat.
Is it easy to install? Yes, the LATCH and tether installations were easy to use.
What did you like about it? The plush seats, 10-harness positions, two cup holders, and adjustable head rest height (great for taller tots).
What would you change about it? At 19.5-inches wide, the larger seat takes up a lot of room in a car, but the added width gives tots some more wiggle room.
