Gwyneth Paltrow Gives Her Kids a Daily Spoonful of Lemon-Flavored Flax Oil

Just a spoonful of . . . lemon-flavored flax oil? Mary Poppins may have relied on sugar to help the medicine go down, but country singer, actress, and mother Gwyneth Paltrow offers up lemon-flavored flax oil to her tots, Apple, 6, and Moses, 4, each morning.

In today's issue of GOOP, the Country Strong star and Golden Globe nominee told readers that her kids get a daily dose of lemon-flavored flax oil ($10) before heading to school. So what is it? Flaxseed oil is rich in omega-3 essential fatty acids, the same healthy acids found in many fish, that help maintain circulatory health, reduce inflammation, and keep cells in top condition. It is also a natural laxative that can be used to keep the body functioning regularly. Lemon oil is added to this version of flax oil to give it a more appealing citrus taste. It is usually used to make salad dressings and smoothies.
