Do You Know Your Growth Chart?

When the pediatrician rattles off my son's weight and length stats, I typically have no idea where he falls on the growth chart. Concerned about the rest of the visit, I usually wait until I get home to plot his numbers on the map to see his percentiles. Do you know where your child is on the spectrum?

Don't forget to check the CDC growth chart (international, more breast milk than the other chart) versus the ones many pediatrician uses. Whole new ball game.

oh wow... i never thought of looking this up. i never remember to ask the doc or the nurse... what percentile, but i do alway write down weight, length, etc.

lol.. my nurse does the chart right after she measures her... takes her like -2 seconds, i didnt realize it took time. Kairi is in the 30th or so percentile for weight, and shes so tall shes off the charts. She just turned 16 months and shes 36 inches tall.

I find it funny how people take what the doctor says as if it's the only opinion that matters (shaking head). I feel so bad for the children of women who, like sheep, do what others instruct them to do without any independent thought. Most of them are educated and would never consider giving up their say on other matters. I guess the medical community intimidates them.

Our peds use laptops at our appointments, so they plot the curve for us on the spot. Although, they aren't something to get too hung up on, after all. Even if they didn't, I wouldn't be too worried about it. Funny how some mothers want to rush home and plot numbers but don't want to listen to doctors about vaccines... *blank stare*
