Oh I completely agree with you twini! A tiny dog can be a danger big, sterotypically "bad dogs" (rot, pit) are often gentle and sweet. IMHO, it was irresponsible of them to get any dog, especially puppies. Puppies require a lot of attention and I doubt they have the time to train a dog properly. I know it's their choice to adopt but often if you adopt you can go through a foster program, where an animal has lived with a family with children, cats, smaller dogs, etc. and gets along well with them. I hope Jon and Kate understand that puppies are just like children, and require the right amount of love and instruction to flurish.

I have two German Shepherds (almost 4 and 3 mos) and they are the most gentle dogs. The key to any dog is raising them and exposing them to many different situations. You raise dogs around children and teach them obedience. Runningesq please understand ANY dog no matter what size can do damage to a child if not trained. I have a friend who has a Yorkie that cannot be around children because he bites them. Yes, it would have been nice if they had adopted but that is their choice and many times those dogs have been in terrible situations and require extensive one on one training. I don't really think they have the time.

ijust know that this will not work out rumors are they have all ready gottten rid of the puppies i belive it because kate was freakin out about the poop and pee on the 1st day and complaing the whole episode about how much it cost and all the holes in clothes but yet they can a 1.3 million dollar house and i argee with you MauiNana i hope one dog really likes maddie

You would think someone as organized as Kate is would have taken the time to research about the breed. Also read a book on the care and training of puppies. Puppies/dogs lick the people they love, but Kate was having none of it. I wish the dogs luck.I agree with Mellie about Maddie,hopefully one of the dogs will love her alot.

i really hope they stick with these dogs and not give them away because kate can't stand the mess. they are too cute!

They were bred, not adopted. And I second what runningesq said. So much of the population in shelters come from the very same breeding mills that many people pay lots of money for in shops. They're not necessarily any more unpredictable than a dog from a certified breeder.I was a little disappointed that they didn't adopt... but they don't strike me as being very educated on the issues, so I wasn't surprised.

They are big, strong dogs, and if they snap (and yes, puppies can grow up to be bad dogs), they could do real damage to the children.But hey, I like rescuing animals that need a home, and you seem to be against that.We'll agree to disagree.

well they do have unknown factors, esp if they are not puppies.i just think its fine for them to select a known breed considering their situation

Wetnap, I take offense that shelter/ rescue dogs are "experiments." Many many dogs from pet stores are from puppy mills, and those are more likely to be inbred with health and behavioral issues.There are foster/ rescue groups for every (pure) breed, and many foster homes see how the dogs react to children, cats, men, etc. That's probably better than just getting a pure bred dog where you don't know how it will react with children.(this is a particular passion of mine, if you couldn't tell ;))
