"I think it's really important to follow the design aesthetic of your home. If you're modern, go modern. If you're traditional, continue with it in the nursery. I believe that the nursery should be a place of calm. Relegate the supercutesy stuff to playthings that can be put away at the end of the day or to accessories that don't overwhelm the room. There's a lot to be said for stimulating a baby, but with all the fun floor mats and toys available, you don't need the nursery itself to go on overload. I use patterns in bedding and rugs. I usually go solid on gliders or sofas so that they have a longer lifespan. A nursery can be whimsical while still being elegant and casual.
"A changing table that converts to a dresser is a great investment. Choose something that is well-made and functional with a style that will last from baby to toddler and beyond. A glider in a great shape and fabric that can be used as your child grows for story time, or a sofa or love seat — Duke's is covered in high-performance cotton velvet — will transition with your child over the years."
