Ga Ga or Gag: The Real Housewives of OC

Okay, so I admit it — Bravo's The Real Housewives of Orange County is mildly addicting. From Vicki's wild weekends in Lake Havasu to Tamra's dirty dancing, it's hard not to watch the motherly madness unfold. But is it because Jeana, Lauri, Tammy, Vicky and Tamra are good moms who want to have fun, or because they are glamorized momsters?

I live in OC (Laguna Hills) and these reality shows on OC are so far from the truth it makes me cringe. You look around OC and all you see is the kind of average people you would see anywhere else, the thing that sets it apart is the scenery, not the people by a long shot. I hang around Coto de Caza alot since I am a Golf and Racquet Club member...same thing! Just a lot of average people like you would see anywhere else. This TV show is supposed to make people think that everyone here is rich and famous, wearing expensive jewelry, driving expensive cars...what is the point of all this? Its all just some stupid lie and the producers of these shows...I dont know exaclty what it is they are trying to prove...how well they can lie to the public? Stupid Stupid Stupid...dont waste time watching these idiotic shows on TV. The reality of Coto, is that it is a place out in the countryside that is a very quiet, and very boring, family type of environment, nothing happening there. I hang out there when I need a quiet place to hang out, and that is a pretty quiet place. Hanging out there does tend to make you think you are rich even when you are not, but it is not what the TV shows make it out to be at all. There are a few truths about it, there are some goldiggers, young girls into way too much cosmetics, but there are those everywhere you go and Coto is no exception. Most people there are no different than people you would see anywhere else.

thank you vinnie, you're so right. If you put the show on and don't actually watch the people but just listen to them (like you're in the next room or something), all you think is how stupid and shallow these idiots sound. The only reason people get sucked into these shows is pure eye candy. It makes me wish I was blind so I'm not fooled by someone's looks alone!!!

The way these children talk to their moms clearly shows that they have done a terrible job raising their families. Their children have no respect for their parents at all and the parents try to buy their children's affection.

I use to live in "The real O.C" (Costa Mesa) for a long time so when I see shows that try to play up how rich and beautiful everyone is it makes me laugh. Of there are the rich and beautiful but there is also a lot of middle class and some really rough and scary areas. But those people wouldn't be fun to watch would they?

I vote "gag," but I totally TiVo it and tune in occasionally. I think it's the gag factor that appeals to me so much.

I agree with MotoLinz....where is the big fat not thanks option? :rotfl: I also agree that the commercials make me cringe. I cannot even imagine watching an entire eppy.

I even hate watching the commercials for this show. You may be rich and living the "real O.C." but that does in no way mean you should have your own tv show.

They are awful parents. I saw in a couple episodes - the brunette leave her son all alone hile she went to Berkeley with her daughter AFTER she had concerns about his partying. Then the other brunette with a small son, buys him something after the father says no and after he throws a bit of a fit. Terrible parents.
