Shopping for your unborn child's car seat is a mind boggling task. The experts at one store say one thing and then their competitor says another. While one friend swears by hers, then you hear a conflicting report. The headache begins.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHSTA) heard our mama cries and answered the call. Like hotels and movies, you can now see where the car seats fall on a five star ranking. To learn more about the ratings system, read more.

According to NHTSA,

All car seats rated by NHTSA meet Federal Safety Standards & strict crash performance standards. While all rated seats are safe, they do differ in their ease of use in four basic categories:

Evaluation of Instructions

Vehicle Installation Features

Evaluation of Labels

Securing the Child

Thanks for this, we were recently in a car accident and our car seat withstood the impact but now we need to find a different one and they don't make the one we have anymore. It has been so hard deciding which one to get.

I think this is a little misleading, this is simply how easy it is to use not how safe it is. Everyone should take their carseat to a police or fire department and have a certified carseat expert show they how to install their carseat.

This is so helpful- shopping for a car seat can be a little scary you want to pick the bes, you want a good price, you don't want to jeopordize your little ones safety.
