A Boo-tiful Black Cat Ball For a Fancy Halloween

Sep 28 2012 - 8:58am

The first word that comes to mind when you think Halloween [1] might not be "fancy" (unless you're British and prefer to call dressing up "fancy dress"), but Paula Biggs of Frog Prince Paperie [2] might just change that with this adorable, black-cat-themed ball. "It was all about luxury — on paper," she says. "Paper draping curtains, candlesticks, and cake stands all were printed and used to make a striking backdrop. A few feathers, sparkling touches, and satiny tablecloths, and the kids thought they were spooky high rollers!" Keep clicking for all the stylish, scary details, and head to Frog Prince [3] to pick up the printables for yourself!

Black Cat Ball Dessert Table

"Kids always love individual servings, so there were many small bites in little serveware for them to pick up and run with," says Paula of Frog Prince Paperie. "Cupcakes in champagne glasses and butterscotch pumpkin mousse in tiny martini glasses were exciting little fancy desserts for the kids." Paper products — including the awesome paper drapes, frames, and cake stands — are part of the Black Cat Ball printable package [5].

Push-Pops

"My favorite item on the table were the mini push-pops," Paula says. "Each tube holds less than an ounce, so it was perfect for creating a shot of flavor! The pop was stuffed with Oreo-truffle filling topped in white chocolate to seal it closed. A catty edible decoration (made from royal icing) was perched on top."

Savory Stuff

"We tempered the sweets this year with a few healthy options," Paula says. "Homemade parmesan crackers with poppy-seed cat heads were offered in individual cups of hummus."

Beta Carotene Brooms

"'Beta Carotene Brooms' (aka carrot sticks) in minicauldrons of ranch dressing were another offering that delighted the kids and offered a nutritious creepy snack among the sugar," Paula says.
