Dare to Bare It All Around Family?

It's nature's way, but is being in the buff acceptable in your household? While some moms and dads are comfortable baring it all around their children, others prefer a more modest approach. The View hosts got riled up while discussing this hot topic yesterday.

I am a 13 yr old boy. My mother and father are seperated. I live with mymother and sisterv and vuisit my father regularly. I don't think my fathrer would care if I saw him naked but he doesn't just strip in front of me. I would like to be able to strip in front of him and not care but I am afraid to do so. I wouldm like to be circumcised but obviously I'm not but my dad is. I have been in puberty for a few yrs now and I haave pubic hair of course. This I am afraid of showing. I have thought long and hard about tgis and have gained some courage. But I am, fairly certain that my dad would have no issue stripping in front of me If I stripped in front of him first. I get along with my dad sometimes but I would like to have that relationship where you don't give two hoots if you see him naked. I think I'd be a lot more confident If i was circumcised. But there's no way I'm gonna tell my mum or dad that i want to be. When I'm older I'm gonna get myself circumcised and raise a famuily where we're naked all the time and no one cares.

i see nothing wrong with it,we're all family so what is wrong with seeing family members in the nude or other people for that matter,we're looking at skin form head to toe and from front to back.the only difference is the gender and race and speaking of gender,family wise,it should not matter among family.

i think it is good because we practice its ones in a week. i have 20 year old daughter & ,17 year old and 12 year old sons.they have no problem with it.my both sons have the age of puberty but we take it as a natural thing they they masturbate in front of we .we take shower together and watching t v together my daughter have no problem to be a nude in front of brother and me

I find it amazing how close minded and ignorant people really are. You automatically associate nudity with sex. Just shows how you all have a one track mind. Society has brain washed the general public into thinking this way. Do you realize that the U.S. is one of the few countries to have a ban on public nudity? We are also the country that has the most sex crimes......why do you think that is? In Greece, most people walk around nude everyday. They shop, bank, swim, even work in the nude. Its only a culture shock to us because we were taught our whole lives that it is morally wrong to be nude in front of others (unless its for sex). I was raised by a whole family who thought nudity was totally the norm. If you didn't feel like putting anything on...you didn't. Just make sure you have a towel to sit on. It was nothing to have my Grand Mother, Mother, Aunt, Cousins, and Sister walking around nude at any given time. We used to have an in ground pool at Grandmas and we would all sunbathe or skinny dip. My children are being raised the same way. Come on people, it's only skin for crying out loud.

The bathroom door in our home was never closed until I was 10 years old when I started closing it. My parents thought I was too modest. They never made a habit of being naked, but they often sat and watched tv in their underware. When I was grown up, one night I was sweaty and dirty, after I took a shower, it was 9pm we werern't expecting company and I was going to bed right after supper. So, I decided to sit down at the supper table in just a towel. Then my mother asked "Don't you have any clothes?"

Is nudity around family wrong? Yes, it is. It takes a sick person to go naked around his or her kids of the opposite sex...as far as the same sex ONLY then its not bad. I am basing this off of a Christian view and we just can not go naked around the opposite sex and it be ok. Accidental nudity...it happens...thats not wrong cause they aint parading around and the kids certainly dont look. Most of these comments are made up...but to the person who said girls can go topless but have to cover their vagina's....you are wrong. Breasts are just as sexual as seeing a vagina any day... You don't go naked around family members and you don't go naked around anyone of the opposite sex.

I see nothing wrong with family nudity. Did it as a child, and did it in my own family. Totally cool. It's all in your way of thinking! Just change how the culture/society made you look at nudity, and change it to how God would see it. God was not ashamed at Adam and Eve, and they were naked, so why would God see your family nudity as wrong?

I hope it is obvious to all that the person who calls himself a "Real Nudist" is NOT. What he describes is NOTHING like a real nudist household or lifestyle. He should be honest and call himself a "Real Pervert" and state that what he said is just his Fantasy.

I am 15 year old boy, I never faced any problem since childhood being naked inside home. Its me and my sister who is 16 we both are raised not exactely as nudist but my parents never bothered such things. My Mom and Dad both sleep naked and and came out of shower the same way. My sister is topless many times and few times she use complete nudism, in kitchen she use kitchen robe. I had tough time 2 years before when i was achieving puberty. Now i am and also my mother and sister are comfortable with my erection as it is natural. We visit my dad's private swimming pool and share nudism with that family too.

well its simple for me. Girls can be topless, must wear panties - this is because the girl must always be modest somewhat and whats under her panties is private and shouldnt be paraded for others to see. Boys can be fully nude, thats ok - because boys are boys, there is no real shame or anything. Why i say this....? i have a reason from culture point of view and also down to pure human behavior. I give 3 valid examples. 1. When girls see boys naked, they dont get aroused and wanna do sexual things all the time. But boys usually jump at a chance to see a naked girl. Arousal in boys happen more prominently (even in the mornings, out of the blue). Usually a boy always has some sexual link in his mind when he sees a naked female. It is unavoidable because we are beings of such nature. 2. It is the world today that if a girl sleeps around with many people, she can be easily called a slut. But no one calls a boy who does the same thing that. At least it doesnt tarnish the reputation of the boy as it would do to the girl. And in some cultures, the girl has to be so pure and protected that the culture demands them to wear things like that burqa where they cover their entire body leaving only their eyes exposed. Have you seen a guy wear this...? 3. Boys are not shy to pee outside right, its just nature. Girls are more shy, in fact we are created that way.

And keep a box of baby wipes in each of the bath rooms for that clean refresh feel. Nudity doesn't have to always equal sex. I grew up in a nudist family with one older sister and we have always been very close. I cannot say for sure whether this is due to being naked around eachother, but I know it must have helped. I realize some people think completely differently, and that's fine, but some people just don't make as big of a deal about things as others do. No one in my family ever made me feel bad about erections. When you're young, you will get them randomly for no reason at all (even when you're older, just to a lesser extent), so it is a natural, non-sexual thing in that sense. If I or my father had an erection, it wasn't a big deal. Usually my mom would just tell me I should "go take care of it", and I would. As long as I wasn't doing it anywhere that was making someone uncomfortable, I was free to enjoy myself where I pleased in the house. My sister had the same freedoms, and no incest ever occured nor did either of us turn out socially awkward or weird. my sister is now married with a great husband and wonderful career, and I have a great girlfriend of 5 years whom I will be marrying as soon as she is out of college (I am 25 by the way).

I think nudity in the family is ok as long as nobody is uncomfortable with it. Me and my mom walk from the shower to our room in the nude. My sister doesn't, but she doesn't think it's a problem that we do it. She even comes inside my room to talk to me if i'm naked, so she doesn't care. I have also heard about some girls who are comfortable walking around naked infront of their brother and father. If you are comforable with it, it's a beautiful thing. It feels really good to just walk around nude knowing nobody acts weird about it. I'm from Holland btw.

You all are too funny. I became a nudist shortly after my first son was born. Six weeks after my son was born my wife found out she had a death sentence. Turned out she had cancer and the doctors gave her less than 6 months to live. Given that, she decided she wanted to try everything... including nudism. I was not thrilled, but went along. What a wonderful experience!!! It was sure strange the first time. Taking off your clothes in a parking lot and walking into a resort naked. What a life changing experience that was. Over the 3 years she managed to live (As well as the 14 major surgeries) we experienced nothing but total acceptance. No one ever made her feel bad about her scars. We were all nude and natural. My son grew up never feeling ashamed about his body. We became nudists at home as well. All our friends, and expecially their kids, joined in as well. We soon became the fun house (Where the kids would shed their clothes as soon as they arrived). Never did it become a sexual thing. Oh yea. Sometimes the kids would get aroused and masterbate, but that was ok. We let them all know that a normal part of being a human being. It was ok, but don't do that where it would cause others discomfort. Of course we let our entire family know we were nudists. Too funny. My older sister had a trip and wanted to know whether we could watch her 2 daughters for a week or so. We asked her whether we should "modify" our nudist routine. She said "Ask the kids". We did and needless to say, they decided to be naked in minutes. They spend the entire week naked with our son and to this day, they never forget the great time they had at Uncle Richard's house. That was over 20 years ago. When my wonderful wife finally died, she asked me to continue to raise our son as a nudist (No shame). Not only that, but the day before she died she was recommending future wives for me. Wow, what a woman. Never a selfish thought!!! Well, when I met my current wife (and 3yr old daughter), I let her know about my nudist lifestyle. She decided to give it a try. Of course, her daughter had no problems throwing off the clothes. They both loved it and soon we got married (In a nude wedding with our friends, also nude). Too funny. Years later, when our daughter was 6, my daughter had an "Episode" at an after school program. Seems a boy decided to flash her. He was a known bully and he, with a few friends, exposed his penis to my daughter and asked her "What do you think of this?". Of course, he expected her to panic or something like that. Instead, she bent down and gave the penis a good look and exclaimed "It's ok, but I've seen better!". He then ran away crying. Not the reaction he expected! The after school instructors found out about this and had to tell me what happened when I picked her up. They were all laughing and told me they did not think he would ever pick on her again. I told them about us being nudists and they all laughed about the fact that this bully picked on the wrong kid. We now have 4 kids (2 boys and 2 girls). Nudism is a way of life for all of us. My kids have never felt ashamed of their bodies. Sexuality is a normal part of being a human being. I love the fact that my girls do not feel ashamed about discussing things such as having a period, etc. And yes, my boys have had an errection in front of us, but so what??!! That is part of being human. And no, there has never been sexual activity between any of our family members. Are you kidding??!! Our kids love AND hate each other just as much as other siblings do. They do not have sex with one another. In fact, they seem to look at sex in a much more mature way then their piers. Since they have seen literally thousands of people nude while growing up, they are not as curious about sex as their peers. Simply seeing another penis or vagina does not get them horny. They look for love, not just lust. What a great way to grow up. I thank my first wife (Taffy) for showing us the way. All my friends and their kids have enjoyed the experiences. For all of you considering whether to try it, I say "Go for it". Afterall, we all are human. Be yourself.

We never ran around naked in the house; usually just to the shower or whatever. I have always tried to act like nudity was comfortable around my kids - I have a 14 yr old son and 12 yr old daughter. I want my kids to be comfortable with their bodies (unlike me when I was growing up). I agree with other posters that it's important to read the "cues" from your kids. My son is so NOT ok with nudity at all right now - I know it's the puberty thing - and that's ok. I haven't changed anything, just going to take a shower - if he doesn't want to see, he just looks away. It doesn't faze my daughter at all to see me naked - but she's not so comfortable anymore since she's started puberty. We've talked and I've told her it's ok if she's not comfortable - and if I make her uncomfortable, to let me know. So far, we're ok.

We're pretty open. We don't walk around naked everywhere but the kids think it's hilarious to see Daddy run downstairs to get clean clothes from the dryer. I don't cover up until I'm ready to put clothes on (out of the shower). As far as the kids themselves go, they're nekkid ALL the time (they're 2 and 1). Spaghetti for dinner? Take off your clothes. Want to paint? Take off your clothes.

I agree with VelmaBean. I'd like my children to understand that nudity is nothing to be ashamed of nor is it necessarily sexual. So, we don't go out of our way to make sure they never ever see us naked but nor do we make a habit of stripping for anything other than changing or showering.

My family has no issues with nudity, both my 8 and 5 year old (boy and girl) see me and my husband naked. I think it's important for kids to see what 'real' bodies look like and to feel good about their own bodies. At this point they have shown no embarrassment by our nudity but I would absolutely respect them if they did and cover up accordingly...I think it's all about reading their cues and being respectful to where they are developmentally.

When the kids are small, like 5 and younger it's not a big deal. But as they get older and begin to know the differences between boys and girls it's a bad idea.

Completely agree - my father used to walk around naked when we were little, but as soon as we got old enough to realize that "daddy was naked" he stopped. My mum still does it to this day!However, as my husband is very modest there is very little nudity in our household now. Its is funny how you change and adapt to respect other peoples values.
