Family Dressing: Kid Friendly or Are You Kidding?

When the Hanna Andersson catalog arrives, I know it's that time of year — when moms and dads dust the mothballs off their holiday sweaters and outfit the kids for the annual family portrait. While a complementary color palette makes for an aesthetically-pleasing picture, are these matching pajamas taking the concept a bit too far?

I like this idea. I've been on the lookout for matching t-shirts for my son and parter, tho i know my partner wont ever have a bar of it. Uniformity within a family shows children that we're a unit, a team and I'm a strong believer that a family that plays together, stays together. Of course, PJ's is as far as it goes.

my grandma always, always, always sent my sister and me matching pj's in different colors every year for christmas. i think she was always purple and i was always pink. maybe that's why i can't stand pink now. i like getting pj's but not the same as my sister and definitely not pink.

I like coordinating the outfits so that you don't look completely mismatched - but matching clothes creeps me out!

my mil got my daughters and i matching pj's a couple of years ago, red w/snowmen on them (my twinn stuff). it was allright for us. my girls really liked it but they were 6,5 and 3 then. not sure that would fly anymore, lol. my dh would never go for this type of thing and i'm fine with that, lol.

Ha! Hanna Andersson! I forgot about those days. As a kid, I always wanted to match but my parents weren't into it. In retrospect, I'm thankful they had good taste and nixed the idea.

Kids matching=yes Adults matching=NO! Coordinating outfits for a family pictures is a good thing. Really unifies the picture.

When I was a kid my mom totally dressed my sister in I in matching outfits. I don't remember being bothered by it — or even noticing — but the result is a collection of the dorkiest family photos ever. I say it's an "are you kidding?" move.

I did photograpy for awhile and one of my favorite pics was a family that all had on plain white t shirts and jeans, the kids had jean over-alls and tshirts. I did them barefoot and had some made in black and white. I still have a few in my portfolio

I would never do that. I don't even like to put my girls (who are 2 years apart) in matching outfits. Coordinating, yes; exact matches, no.

My brother and I always had matching pajamas for Christmas. I've even had the matching mom and daughter dresses. I don't have a problem with it and I think it's fun and cute. Christmas is a family holiday, it's not like you're going to wear matching clothes every day.

I also think matching outfits for children and parents is lame but, I know my 4 year old son would love it if he and I were wearing matching pj's (there is no way in hell my husband would wear those).

I just started getting the Hanna Andersen catalog. I think it's creepy, but we like to thumb through and laugh at it.

I couldn't even do something like this for the family picture. We're going to get a family pic done soon and I think we'll probably coordinate, but never match! I'm even thinking of having each of us wear different bright colors and not matching at all.
