Does Sibling Rivalry Exist in Your Home?

Mike Wahlberg is none too thrilled about the arrival of his lil brother, Brendan. But the reason the 2-year-old is bothered by the newest addition is just a case of sibling rivalry as the tot has been knocked out of the baby spot. Their father Mark Wahlberg recently reported that his older son said, "The baby has to go to Florida!" and that the statement was his child's first full sentence. Does competition between your children exist?

yep...it here....but we deal with it. :) but then at other times...the kids stand together as a group if something threatens them.

we had a very difficult period between my oldest (severely autistic daughter) and my youngest daughter. when the youngest started preschool it got better. my middle daughter and youngest (9 & 7)are involved in different activities now, which has helped the rivalry between them. makes it harder to get them to their events, but seems to make for happier kids.

Same in our house, pinkprincess. They'll argue with each other all day long until they're out playing somewhere, and it becomes us against the world. Makes my heart melt when one of them puts their arm around the other protectively.

of course there is, yet no one else can pick on them they defend each other like there's no tomorrow my daughter is very protective of my son

Yes. My older brother used to gleek on me in front of his friends and even got my little brother to say mean things to me. :( My older brother hasn't changed much (He's now 28... with child & wife... I think it's time for him to stop? lol) but my little brother and I are really close!

I'm sure even with the 9 year age gap this will be an issue for us at some point. Right now the older one loves his baby brother and finds him to be a novelty. If they were closer in age I'm sure we would have had issues already. Is it wrong that I think it's adorable that his first full sentence was "The baby has to go to Florida!" SO cute!
