In case you haven't heard, flu season is upon us. Each year, approximately one in 100 tots are hospitalized for the flu and between 75 and 150 children succumb to it. Unlike last year, the Centers for Disease Control says that this year's vaccine should be more successful than last year's serum. 1There is technically a mistake on question 6: if you receive the nasal flu vaccine, it contains live, weakened virus that will not cause the flu. The injected vaccine contains killed virus.
2And that's why I got #6 wrong - my doctor offers the FluMist and the info on it talks about the live virus.
3It's actually interesting that #6 does have that, considering the explanation clearly addresses FluMist. But #5 if also wrong - hand-washing and other sanitary practices have been proven to help prevent the flu virus. The shot/nasal spray are not the only ways.

5Agreed Greggie- handwashing, not touching you mouth, nose, or eyes with your hands are other effective methods to prevent infection. This question is also false because depending on what strains are placed in the flu vaccine, and what strains actually are circulating during flu season, you can still contract the flu. Additionally, getting the vaccine too early or too late can also be problematic.
6I do not recommend that anyone receive a flu vaccine. Most contain mercury and other toxins used as preservatives. The best way to prevent and treat the flu is with high doses of Vitamin D (which we get from sunlight). The flu vaccine has actually not been found to prevent the flu. Do your own research and see what the studies actually say. Makers of the vaccine have been pushing shots so hard to us and our doctors because they need the money!
