Do You Have a Look?

Some parents tighten their faces and others have a serious stare that sends their children the silent message to knock off whatever they are doing. My siblings and I still impersonate my mom's look — the one she used to dart in the direction of anyone who elbowed each other in church.

Last on Jon and Kate Plus 8, the Gosselin parents talked about the stern expressions they use to communicate with their twins and sextuplets. Do you have a mug that means business?

I used to until I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror doing it. It just looked so angry and unhappy and ugly. Now I skip the look and move right in.

My daughter is only two and she's our only child, so I still think everything she does is cute and funny. So it's really hard for me to give her a stern look cause I just want to laugh, so I have to use my tone of voice when she needs to stop doing something.

I guess I do have a look, but so far I've only used it on my husband. Baby isn't born yet.

I don't have children, but according to my husband, I have a Look. He calls it the "Look of Death." Aparently, if looks could kill it would be my Look. LOL It's funny. Sometimes my husband would be puzzled by my Look. He would ask,"Why am I getting the Look of Death?? I didn't do anything wrong!" Well, HE thought he didn't do anything wrong. I begged to differ. :)

i have a look and a "tone" that in inherited from my father's side of the family. it took many, many years to control both of them so that they only came out when i wanted them to (and never together, because that'll leave burns). one of my biggest challenges as a mother will be to remember all the times i got in trouble for "talking back" when i didn't mean to. i know my daughter will have the same problem. at 5 months, she's already dishing out the look!

I have a look, but combined with the famous "bebba finger" so named after my norwegian great grandmother who could just point her finger in your direction and you would shut up and behave. we all inherited it, and wield it with glee

The only person that has NO CLUE that there is going to be some serious problems soon when I give the look is my 2 year old that I swear has absolutely NO fear of anything. Everyone else runs and stumbles on their words once the look is given.

I have a look, but since my daughter is 2 it has taken her a while to get that it's the "Mom means business" look. When she was littler (18 months or so) she would start to giggle, thinking I was making funny faces at her. Drove me nuts! But now she's starting to understand.

I find the look to be really effective, my mom used one and it still causes me to stop what I'm doing even now that I am the mom and she's using it on her grandkids lol.
