Penne a la vodka, cozze, beer-battered shrimp and Jack Daniels marinated steaks — all foods that women don't think twice about ordering, unless perhaps, they are pregnant. Most recipes that involve wine, beer or liquor burn off the alcohol in the cooking process, but sometimes expectant mamas are still wary. A recent trip to the grocery store landed me in the ice cream aisle where I came across Ciao Bella's Blackberry Cabernet Sorbetto. Wine and sorbet sounded like the suitable solution for a mama-to-be who isn't comfortable downing a glass of vino, but not all ladies would be willing to give it a try. Do you have concerns about eating foods made with alcohol while pregnant?

OK, that is silliness. Granted I am not pregnant, but I honestly don't think you should worry about eating Saganaki, bread pudding, or Penna Ala Vodka bc they used alcohol and it cooked off.
1I didn't touch a drop of alcohol while trying to conceive, pregnant, or nursing. But to cook with wine once in awhile? I don't see the harm in that if the alcohol cooks off.
2Why take any chances?
3Exactly once your pregnant you'll see taking chances just issn't worth it. Especially with all the birth defects out there.
4i still cook with wine when i feel like it. i might not eat an alcoholic sorbet though...
5No, I am pretty sure I trust the cooking process.. and if I feel like it I will still eat penne ala vodka or saganaki but I know I will not eat uncooked alcoholic ice cream.
6I didn't vote because while I have eaten penne a la vodka during my pregnancy, I would not eat a sorbet with wine in it.
7I don't see anything wrong with eating foods cooked with alcohol. As mentioned above the heat "kills" the effects of it.
I don't think it is a taking a major chance either b/c our mothers probably had a lot of things that are on the forbidden list today and the majority of us are fairly normal
BTW..I am not promoting alcohol in general b/c I am not fond of the taste. However, I do enjoy sauces made from wines and bread pudding(like someone else mentioned).
8After being born with a cleft lip...i refuse to do anything that could harm my baby when im pregnant.
9I dont drink or smoke now so im sure when i eventually do have kids i wont then but i'll be staying away from anything that could possibly make my child be born the same as me. I wouldnt want my kid to grow up and be treated the way i was.
I have seen research that only about half of the alcohol cooks off
