Though some moms stick to strict schedules regardless of circumstance, others are willing to bend the rules on special occasions. I let my children stay up late on birthdays, family gatherings, and holidays. On Wednesday night, my son and daughter are welcome to ring in 2009 with us if they can keep their eyes open.
