LS: Tell us about your "Venn Diagram approach" to accommodating picky eaters.
JR: It's a way to convince myself that I'm just making one thing, when in fact, everyone's eating something different. It's not anything that other parents aren't doing all the time. Say I'm making orecchiette with sausage and broccoli. The child who doesn't like pasta gets broccoli and sausage; the one who doesn't like broccoli gets pasta and sausage. My husband and I eat the dish as it's meant to be eaten. It's about constantly deconstructing the meal so that everyone gets something they like.
