Did Your Baby Numbers Align?

While dating, my husband and I agreed on the number of children we hoped to have.

But, what happens when a couple can't come to a consensus? Or, if spouses initially have the same plan and then one person has a change of heart?

Actress Brooke Shields made a recent comment that confronted this issue.

At the Prada Trembled Blossoms event, the mother of two, Rowan, 4, and Grier, almost 2, expressed her desire for a son. To see what she said, read more.

According to Us magazine, the actress's husband, Chris Henchy might put a halt to her hope. The article said:

"I'm going to have to convince him and he's a hard sell at this point," the Lipstick Jungle star, 42, said while laughing. "Maybe he likes the even number!"

We always said we would stop at 2. We thought we would be lucky and have a boy and a girl. But we have two beautiful girls. We would have liked to have a boy, but as we learned there is no guarantee. SO for many reasons we decided, boy or no boy we are very happy and I had my tubes tied.

My husband and I are totally in disagreement. I grew up with a huge family and I wanted at least 2 but he only wants the one.

My man likes to have five. I like the idea and keep nodding my head but in the end it will be one child at a time.

As a middle child, I love having a sister and a brother. Especially because my sister and I (15 months apart) have always been polar opposites. Our baby brother was born when I was 6 and she was 7. I love my baby brother and I can't imagine what my life would be been like, not just without HIM, but if it had just been my sister and I. Not to mention, we loved having a baby brother when we were at that age! I think I want to do it like that too, have around 3 kids, and have two of them close together, and one older or younger. But... as I keep telling my bf, we need to get started soon, he's already 34! haha... Maybe when he's 36 or 37, and I'm 26 or 27, we'll get started!

We both want two. But if we were to wind up with two of the same sex I'd be willing to try for the opposite sex... but he isn't. I guess we'll just see how it works out :)

well, I thought I was done when I had my 2nd. I had my tubes tied. Mainly because I was getting divorced. I didn't think about possibly re marrying later on. Now that I am remarried we want one child together and its been tough. I had a tubal reversal and it worked, but now I have recurrent losses so we are moving on to IVF in hopes controlling the environment and having the benefit of medications will help us. We only want one together so 3 is my perfect number! However, if we end up with twins we would be just as ecstatic!

We are kind of going through that right now. We have 2 beautiful kids that are wonderful but handfuls!! We are trying to decide about moving to a different house right now which also has to do with schools. It seems like he wants me to decide right now if I want a 3rd instead of leaving that open for a while. I am definitely happy with our 2 but don't want to say no to a third quite yet. He is fine with just 2, but he is just anxious to have an answer before too much time passes and we move into a different phase of life- who wants to go back to diapers and being up all night. I can only say 'maybe' right now which is not what he wants to hear I think.

We are grateful enough for the one IVF son we have, but I know he has always wanted more than one (thinking that only children--like me--are too spoiled!). But with our fertility issues, I think we realize how lucky we are to have one bio child. I would love a girl, but we will see if we are willing to go through IVF again or look into adoption.

I could definitely do 3, but the hubby is set on 2. Right after our daughter was born he kind of freaked out a bit and was even against 2. I think those first few months were kind of hard on him. He's one of those that needs his 8 hours. I remember a few conversations which I would start with, "well, for the next one we can do this or that, or we will have learned this or that..." He would freak out! I finally sat him down and said, "babe, when I say that, I don't mean we should start trying for baby #2 tomorrow!" I think he was just in the midst of a new dad panic. I'm guessing we'll probably be done after 2. Although, if the next one is a girl, I might be able to convince him to try for a boy. He and I are the last ones having kids on his side of the family...and his brother has a girl too...I might be able to convince him....maybe! And totally off topic, I love the name Rowan. Our daughter was almost a Rowan.

My husband and I are currently facing this problem. I'd like 3 or 4 and he's fairly set on 2. But I figure we'll just take it one kid at a time and see what happens!
