Did Your Baby Have a "Home From the Hospital" Outfit?

Once you walk your baby out those double doors of the hospital, there's no going back. And to prepare for that big day, many mamas set aside an extra special outfit for their lil one to wear. Did you dress your child up?

My grandmother came home in this lace baby dress, and so did everyone after her including me. So it was nice to pass down a little tradition when my daughter was born and was brought home in the same dress and bonnet.

i had the cutest little kimono wrap with a matching hat, and blanket. the nurses were all calling her "baby couture." i loved it and cried when i packed it away...if we have another girl she will wear the same outfit!

yeah.. i think greggies got a good idea there, the outfit (organic cotton) that i bought to bring him home (nb size) was WAY too big. it definitely didnt matter in the scheme of things... the picture of the way too big hat on him in the HUGE car seat... are adorable anyway. and good luck ladolce

I really like Greggie's idea of having dad (and previous kids if any) pick out the outfit after seeing how big and the sex. We'll probably be surprised for the first's sex and then find out on the second.

almost similar to Greggie, my boy's outfit wasn't arranged until after he was born, and my sister bought it for him. cute baby gap stuff! it's unisex too, so rather than buy a new outfit for each baby i think i will use it again for the next baby. create a new tradition in a way. and no, i'm not pregnant!

RJ came home wearing a little heathered grey onesie under navy blue pants with a matching cardigan. Aidan came home wearing a blue striped short set that had the letter A appliqued on it. Both ensembles were only worn once and are tucked in the cedar chest for safe keeping.

Nothing special. If you just spent the last nine months floating naked in warm fluid, the last thing you'd want to wear is something itchy, uncomfortable, and obnoxious. Most of those newborn "outfits" never fit them right anyway. So, we've always kept it low-key with our kids. A soft cotton sleeper and hat, a blanket depending on the season, and we are set.

I did for my first,,then after realizing how tiny they really are and the clothes not fitting her right at all i regreted it. I spent almost $50 on a little outfit. ridiculous! For my second one he was born in the middle of cold winter..so we just bought him something cute but really warm!

I had a sleeper which each child wore as it was the only thing I had in NB size. When our youngest, a girl, was born, we took a picture of the three boys holding their sister who was wearing that sleeper. When the birth announcement was sent out I was surprised to see that the sleeper had become pink: my husband had decided that he really wanted people to know that she was a girl so he had used PhotoShop and changed the colour of the blue sleeper!

My oldest had a tiny barely pink Feltman Brother's smocked dress, and handmade shoes and a bonnet, my middle had a tiny blue feltman bubble and handmade shoes and my baby had a different Feltman smocked baby pink dress. At a week I had the girl's pics made, Jonah's had to wait a little longer because of his health issues. I'm going to do shadow boxes with the outfits and pics when I get around to it

We had picked out a onsie from Old Navy that said "Hello, I'm New Here" on it when I was just about 4 or 5 months preggo and as soon as we saw it- we knew it would be his "Going Home Outfit." We also grabbed yellow pants and hat to match it. Then out little guy was born a month early and was way too tiny for everything we had picked out. We put the onsie on him anyway, rolled the sleeves up and called it a day. He looks totally adorable in all of the pictures we have in that outfit! I think we made a great choice!

Yes, I brought an outfit for my son that my grandmother had bought him - just something I thought was cute and I kept it in a keepsake box for him. I am in the process of finding the take-home outfit for my daughter but I think I've found it in a cute little pink onesie my mother bought her! Whatever she wears will be kept for her as well.

i dont have a child yet, but already have a special outfit ready for the day we bring our baby home! some call me lame, other call me prepared. :)

I tried to have something cute. But understanding baby clothes much, it looked a bit odd on him. Plus, it was too big because he was much smaller than expected. So he ended up wearing the other outfit I brought, which fit, but wasn't special. Oh well. It turns out it wasn't that big a deal and in the scheme of things I wasn't that upset.

I "had" a Red Sox outfit for our son... That's until he peed on it :rotfl: Luckily I had another outfit in the bag.

I bought my daughter a take home outfit but it was too big and she was born on a chilly day so she wore something else. So that's the out that got put in her keepsake box.

We had one boy and one girl outfit since we didn't know what we were having, but he was born at just over 6 lbs and way too tiny for it. The day before we were released, my husband went shopping for a new premie outfit. So with the second and third, we didn't get anything beforehand. My husband shopped with the older sibling(s) again the day before we were released.

Yes, my daughter came home in this adorable pink onesie ensemble with matching hat and bathrobe! With my first child, my son, he came home wrapped in a white onesie and that hospital issued baby blanket. Ah, how time flies ;)

Yes, my daughter had a beautiful white dress with a matching bonnet. Everyone was complimenting her. She was born in June so I could get away with not wrapping her cup completely. I have 11 days until I find out what this little bean is and I will definitely get a outfit for it.
